still playing. life (and occasionally work) get in the way, but still clicking on.

I noticed another thread about the old PacWar. does anybody remember before PacWar we had 'War in the South Pacific'? the old SSI game? the memories.....

(I think I played it on a C64? now that's going back a few years!).

I have very fond memories of Great Naval Battles, North Atlantic and Great Naval Battles 1942 which was based on the Guadalcanal campaign.

Was really great because it had a tactical simulator embedded in an operational game.

You formed TFs for resupply and surface action and then could either switch to tactical control of any gun on any ship or zoom the strategic map in to watch each individual plane swarm the targets and an air raid came in.

Bought UV, WitP and AE the day each came out. Been a wargamer since 1970. AE is the ultimate game and I see myself playing it to my dying day. I downloaded WitP while at the mob station just before shipping out. Spent a year learning that beast by myself. No access to this website and I didn't know anyone who bought it at that time. I came back and met tc464 in 2005 and we started our first PBEM. Played WitP until the vaunted patch 2 came out and started PBEM #2. Started PBEM #3 when AE came out. The Army sucked me away for half a year with no communication again and when I came back we decided to start PBEM #4, which we play to this day. Only lapses are when RL intervenes. We'll finish this one.

I did play a couple other WitP games. Speedy, faber, Bruce, Wolf….

Then there's Mogami.

Played the original DOS war in the southwest pacific and the original witp. Then played UV, WITP and now AE. I also got WPO but never played it though.

I still play AE against the AI, but I'm short on time these days, so not as often as I'd like. I did play some PBEM a few years back, and before that some PBEM of Uncommon Valor. AE is still my favorite wargame of all time. It's a work of art!

Still at it... sort of. Pesky real life distractions keep getting in the way.

By the way, it is fun to read the names of so many fine "forumites". I owe many of you strong thanks for all the help the forum has provided to me.

Play v. AI. My own mod. WITP AE is the only game I play with any regularity.

Had the game since the beginning too, but not enough time to fully commit for a PBEM (might soon change). Lot of AI games started as the Allies, and left aside once the AI was screwed.

Pretty new! On my 5th game. 2nd PBEM. Played Victory in the Pacific from SPI, the monster game. Used to own around 50 or so board wargames. Love to play Starbase Orion (a fantastic IOS game), but, quit for a "while" while I learn WITP AE. Used to play WS&IM online, won the tournament for that. Even used to play some old play by mail, not email! Been playing wargames for at least 35 years. Owned a lot of the Strategic Simulations games too.
