Hi,
I am fairly new to the program, so I apologise if this subject has been discussed before. If the functionality is already present, can someone please point to it.

In larger simulations, you may want to manage the overall situation and not micromanage each unit. To this end, I suggest that two new mission types be added to submarine operations.

TRAIL

The aim of trail would be to follow an assigned target in a stealthy manner and report its position details periodically. The trail function could work by:

Approach target stealthily
Set up suitable trail position
React to course, speed and anti-trail procedures
Disengage to communicate
Reengage after comms update.

This would place the friendly unit in an ideal position to attack when needed, or for a given period of time.

An option would be to assign a potential group of targets, with the first enemy unit on list contacted then trailed.

SIGNATURE CAPTURE

Similar to trail, but including positioning around the enemy unit to capture acoustic profile and photos (inc underwater hull shots for surface vessels or in clear water for submarine units).

Option to fit calibrated acoustic data collection equipment on a small number of units to allow absolute values to be captured.
