Pacific Theatre / July 11th - 22nd 1945 Allied focus in past two weeks have been Gifu. I'am happy to report that we have damaged the aircraft engine factories and bonus have been that we scortched quite a few bombers in the airfields as well. The allied troops are resting and refitting before launching yet another offensive in in this sector. In Burma japanese forces have been withdrawing towards Bangkok and I have been busy moving troops into Mergui. This in mind I ordered river crossing into Moulmein since a lot of enemy forces were spotted heading south. The idea was good but execution left a lot to be desired for...as I said the japanese infantry definately carry a lot of firepower even in 1945's. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Moulmein (55,55) Allied Shock attack Attacking force 147069 troops, 2240 guns, 2228 vehicles, Assault Value = 4403 Defending force 78806 troops, 765 guns, 277 vehicles, Assault Value = 2098 Allied adjusted assault: 1441 Japanese adjusted defense: 8197 Allied assault odds: 1 to 5 (fort level 5) Combat modifiers Defender: terrain(+), forts(+), supply(-) Attacker: shock(+) Japanese ground losses: 2481 casualties reported Squads: 6 destroyed, 191 disabled Non Combat: 3 destroyed, 71 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 36 disabled Guns lost 64 (11 destroyed, 53 disabled) Vehicles lost 24 (2 destroyed, 22 disabled) Allied ground losses: 26004 casualties reported Squads: 570 destroyed, 2097 disabled Non Combat: 88 destroyed, 496 disabled Engineers: 269 destroyed, 391 disabled Guns lost 553 (54 destroyed, 499 disabled) Vehicles lost 345 (70 destroyed, 275 disabled) Units destroyed 1 Assaulting units: I Aus Corps Engineer Battalion 26th Indian Brigade 25th Indian Division 7th Australian Division 255th Indian Tank Brigade 268th Motorised Brigade 209th Cmbt Engineer Battalion 72nd British Brigade 98th Indian Brigade 28th (East African) Brigade Provisionl Tank Brigade 29th British Brigade 5th Indian Division 2nd British Division XV Corps Engineer Battalion 26th Indian Division 99th Indian Brigade IV Corps Engineer Battalion 100th Indian Brigade 200th Chinese Division 22nd (East African) Brigade Gardner's Horse Regiment 254th Armoured Brigade 36th Chinese Division 9th Australian Division 30th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment 48th Light AA Regiment 33rd Indian Mountain Gun Regiment 85th British AT Gun Regiment 6th Mixed A/T Mtr Regiment 32nd Indian Mountain Gun Regiment 3rd (Special Force) Division Defending units: 56th Division 52nd Division 1st Raiding Regiment Kure 5th SNLF 29th Ind.Mixed Brigade 18th Division 19th Division 4th Division Kure 7th SNLF 32nd Field AA Battalion 8th Ind.Hvy.Art. That does not seem to be the case and these units were fully prepped for Moulmein... oh well you win some and lose some but at least we are over the river and main spearhead is organizing further in the south.
