Ironman are 'fantasy' scenario to be played against the AI. The AI gets a fair amount of help. The good news is that the AI is self sufficient on the NORMAL setting. There are 3 versions: Ironman, Ironman Nasty, Ironman Nasty Nasty. Also there are Ironman and Ironman Allied AI.

Nasty Nasty is exactly that. Be prepared. It should challenge you quite nicely.

There is also an Ironman Nasty ported to Babes.

AndyMac ported his Nasty scenario into the DaBabes mod.

It's scenario 40 IIRC.

Thank you very much, but prefer a more historically correct scenario.

Historically correct scenarios are OK for your first couple of games.

You will very quickly get bored with games that skew heavily in your favor long before the Allied buildup ever happens and eventually go looking for a more challenging game.

You will get that either from competitive play against another human or by playing scenarios that beef up the AI side.

The bottom line is that the AI is not capable of giving an even moderately experienced player a decent game without being beefed up.

That's what the Ironman scenarios do in varying degrees.

The player side is still limited to an historical order of battle.

+1

And if your RL does not allow the time for a PBEM, then you are relegated the AI as, alas, am I.

Fortunately, Andy Mac did create the Nasty Nasty versions and they are quite competitive at normal difficulty. At Hard/VH ... I'm just getting ready to try a game. I've done a few starts ... way challenging.
