So, in the Guadalcanal scenario, I have an AV. The Kamikawa Maru. It has a "Aircraft Capacity" of 9. According to the "Tenders and Support / Auxillary Ship Guide" on this site, it says this:

"Note: If an AV has an “Air Capacity” value, then the AV can operate planes while underway [7.0.1.1.1]"

So, this AV has a Air Capacity of 9, and used of 0. So, it appears I can transfer those planes to the AV, which makes sense. But, I find a "Load Tender" option for this ship on the ship screen, I can't find any document that says what that really means. I click it, but, it says "Unable to load tender". Ok, but, I don't know what it would load if it were able to. That might then give me a hint why it can't load perhaps, depending on if I even care at that point.

Can anyone explain the Load Tender link?

And it's kind of confusing as the manual indicates support might be needed to use as a tender at some port, but, I see no way to load any support onto this ship. I see no cargo capacity. Could not find an answer in the forums.

You can only put floatplanes in the AV's , note the AV also gives air support in a port. They are put there via squadron menu where it says transfer to a ship. Then you select the AV name.

Load the tender button is to load supplies for tenders that need supplies for them to do their mission, like AS, AKE, AD's that spend their supply when they are supporting submarines and others ships. Like an AKE that gives capability to supply ammunition to battleships in a small port that otherwise would be unable to supply big ships. The AKE to be able to do this mission needs to have supply.

So, in other words, this AV can not ever use the Load Tender option, as, it seems to have no supply or cargo capacity.

This is only true for the Japanese side.

Most American AVs have no capacity but do have a support capability and a cargo load.

Only a couple of American AVs have a capacity of 4 and a couple of very short legged Dutch ones have a capacity of 1.

All American AVs and AVPs have cargo capacities.

I've never been sure if they need a cargo load to be able to supply the seaplane support function.

I don't think they do, but I always load them up with supply before sending them out to a remote dot base to set up a seaplane base just in case.

Hmm, how can you possibly load this AV with supply? You say:

"I always load them up with supply before sending them out to a remote dot base"

The ship has no cargo capacity. Near as I can tell, you cannot load it with supply.

I DID say I was referring to American AVs while your question is specific to Japanese AVs.

I was trying to point out that there IS a difference.

The Japanese AVs do have a Cargo capacity. You can see it on the individual ship information screen.

Look at the ship I stated in the Guad scenario, no cargo capacity.

As Dili said the "Load Tender" button on ship screen that is to load supply on the ship not load units, that is done as normal of loading troops or flying the unit to the ship.

I have noticed that Allied AV/AVD types w/ supplies loaded w/ use that supply vs land based supply. Not sure why it uses one over the other on supply though as it's even at well supplied bases I've seen this behavior.

On a side note has anyone modded sorties onto ships w/ floatplanes like BB/CA/CL/SS to see the effect of that?

Pretty straight forward, it enables that section of the code. With it not being defined, FP's can fly all the NavBomb missions they want.
When you add aircraft ordnance into slot 20, it now limits attack missions. Just like normal, does not affect NavSearch or CAP.
