Is there any documentation or a good thread on how nuclear weapons work in CMANO? I launched my first nukes today when a Nimrod I was commanding dropped a B57 depth bomb on a Soviet SSBN and a second on a Soviet SSN. Unfortunately, the second B57 also took out a British frigate that was too close to the blast.

I'm really looking for anything that helps understand the mechanics of nuclear weapons. For example:

* After I dropped the bomb, an expanding blue circle appeared from the impact point. I assume this is the blast radius?
* Beyond the obvious destruction, is there any other effects of a nuclear weapon (electromagnetic pulse, for example)?
* Is there a way to understand the blast radius from the database?
* Is there any lasting effects of nuclear weapons (e.g., radiation) after the weapon has detonated?

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

I believe the blue circle you mentioned was the shockwave in the water. As cns has said, EMP effects were added in the last patch.
There are no lasting effects (fallout etc.) currently in the game, nor would they make sense given the general time scale of scenarios.

As for estimating blast radii, a short Google search on my part came up with this:
http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Science/Nuke.html
Allows you to input a yield, and you get the range at which certain effects will occur. This is all for detonations in air however, underwater detonations are likely to be quite different.

I don't know how the nukes are modeled in this game, but the last time I checked about a year ago, the blast radius was rather overestimated. I'm not sure if any patching has been done to fix that however.

Did you inform the devs of your disagreement with their model, backed by data?

Unfortunately I never quite got around to it, but I am interested in discussing the model. It'll take a few days for me to compile the data.
