Hey folks - trying to get back into this game, after having played it very early (day 1). I reinstalled the latest from July 15 and am getting the rtl140 is missing error when I try to start. Nothing special about my install, other than the fact that I'm running it from a secondary hard drive (e:). I tried copying and running from c: in case the code cares, but same error. Windows 7.

Thanks in advance.

You might try deleting the shortcut, if that is what you are using to start the game. Then create a new one pointing to the folder where the game is installed.

The missing rtl140 (and friends) is because the program is expecting a whole slew of BPL files (rtl140.bpl) to be in the same folder as the EXE.

Version 2.0.0.0 and subsequent versions embedded those files into the EXE, so they are no longer needed as separate bpls.

In short, make sure the folder in which the MWIF.exe resides also contains the BPL files - until you upgrade to e version number 2.0.0.0 or higher.

Here's the file, if you still need it.

Another one that liked to vanish with some of the older editions. I had to re-insert that file several times.

I should note that it has been a long time since I had such an issue.

Thanks for the replies. Am I correct, that to reinstall the game I need to go to the registered "member" section and install the beta which it takes me to? Trying that in myriad combinations, I'm now getting a generic mwif.exe has stopped working error. My larger question is, to reinstall from scratch, is there some other file I should be finding other than the 2.x beta? When I install this, it finds my correct serial number and appears to install, but then doesn't launch. I'll try the official support path if no one has any ideas here, but thought I'd try. I should also add that when the game launched, I played the first couple months without issue. Same PC, same basic setup. I deleted it to conserve hard drive space at some point, and am struggling to get back to playing. : (

Sounds like you are trying to hotpatch an older (pre-version 2) version.

Do a normal upgrade process from the initial splash screen to get to the latest public release. If it is not version 2 (first digit of release #, I can't recall if there'e been a public one, in which case you'll have to then get a version 2 public beta from the members area.) Then use the hotpatch to replace the MWiF.exe. There were huge changes when version 2 replaced version 1.
