11. May/June 1941. Red Sea.

The RN supported by the Free French Navy run the Italians out of the Eastern Med and clear the Japanese from the Red Sea.

The RN and USN put a dent in the western part of the IJN naval shield.

11. May/June 1941. Arabian, West Indian and Bay of Bengal.

And here's the dent. That is, the RN now is in complete control of the Arabian Sea and the USN the West Indian Ocean.

11. May/June 1941. Bismark Sea. Philippines.

And to the east of the IJN naval shield, the USN moved strong air and naval forces into the Bismarck Sea, but were unable to force the IJN out.

Also, the USA reinforced the Philippines and now will being to use those islands as a forward base of operations against the Japanese.

11. May/June 1941. IJN Fights back in Bismarck Sea.

The IJN surprised the USN in the Bismarck Sea and had a chance to sink the V marines. Fortunately for the USA, the IJN only managed to damage the transport instead of sinking it. The result was that the V marines went to the force pool for re-entry to the game next turn.

US command has made it to the contested Bismarck Sea area (i.e., Coral Sea just south of Bismarck Sea) and additional allied ground troops and naval assets as well.

11. May/June 1941. Economic Reports.

1. The USA aligned both Brazil and Mexico this turn, which gave them three more factories. Something I overlook until the end of the turn, which resulted in 1 of the 3 factories being idle due to not having all the necessary convoys in place.

2. The USA production multiplier increased from 1 to 1.25.

3. The USSR multiplier remains at 0.5.

4. Japan's BP out only reached 8, which is just barely above that of China.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Nazi-Soviet Pact.

Even with the optional rule that makes breaking this pact easier, the Soviets were able to stuff the border with enough troops and air units to prevent the Germans for breaking the pact and declaring war on them.

Though this was a fair weather turn everywhere except for the North Monsoon (rain and storms), it only lasted a total of 7 impulses (4 axis and 3 allied) on an end of turn roll of 1. And though it was Jul/Aug 1941, land actions were limited (i.e., small) and constrained to North Africa and northern China.

Because of the still in force Nazi-Soviet pact, this turn (again) was a naval turn with continued action in the Pacific, Atlantic and the Med. This realization of WW-2 is playing out as a dominated naval world war. Different and fun indeed.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. The Western Front.

Germany is pulling as many units as it dares from garrison duties in France to put into the East to try to break Nazi-Soviet pact.

Italian units are both filling those garrison duties and are being sent to the East to help the Germans try to break the pact.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Libya.

While the Italians are trying to help the Germans out in both the West and the East, their empire in North Africa is crumbling.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Northern China and Korea.

Yamamato's command and an IJA army are evacuated by sea from Pusan (ironic isn't it) and moved to Shanghai, where the Japanese army is holding on for dear life.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Land Combat. China.

Fierce battles rage between the communist Chinese and the Japanese in and around Shanghai.

(attack shown but land combat not shown) Also the Nationalist Chinese gamble on a high risk (high gain) attack to capture Nanking. However, the attack fails with the Nationalist losing a mil and becoming disorganized.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Southern China. Philippines.

The Nationalist and Japanese in southern China remain in a stalemate.

The Philippines, which never fell the Japanese, provides the USA with an invaluable forward base of operations against the Japanese.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Western Pacific.

So valuable in fact that the USA will likely by-pass the critical IJN bases of Truk and Siapan. Well, unless the Japanese decide to abandoned those bases and essentially give them to the USA for free.

Bismarck Sea.

While the USN continues to make steady progress against the IJN in the Bismarck Sea, the IJN is stubbornly trying to hold onto that area. Or at remain in that sea area.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Arabian Sea. Bay of Bengal. West Indian Ocean. East Indian Ocean. South China Sea.

In the West Indian Ocean the IJN moved a carrier task force into that area in an attempt to regain control. Both sides (USN and IJN) continue to battle there.

In the Bay of Bengal, the IJN won a battle against a two carrier RN task force that moved in to try to take control. Though the IJN wasn't able to eliminate all presence of the RN in the Bay of Bengal.

12. Jul/Aug 1941. Victory Totals. Captured Facilities.

The number to the left of each power's victory total is the difference between that countries current total minus it's end-game (Jul/Aug 1945) expected total, according to the MWiF player's manual.
