Hi guys,

unfortunately my PBEM opponent doesn't feel like continuing our game. Thus I am looking for an opponent willing to step into the game as a Japanese player.

Now about the game itself:
It is DaBigBabes-C scenario 28 (full) - smaller cargo capacities
It is played on extended map with stacking limits
Advanced Weather Effects: ON
Player Def. Upgrades: ON
Reinforcements: +/-15 days
Turn Cycle: 1

House Rules (open to discuss):
Landings are possible on dot/base only.
Fighters can be set to CAP/escort/sweep up to their second highest mvr rating. (Can be changed to 20/25/30/35 steps per years).
Units have to be bought out from restricted commands before crossing borders.

And here is the print screen of the basic intelligence screen:

Sorry to see you are yet another victim of a Japanese player who enjoys his day in the sun and quits as soon as the tables are about to turn.

Good luck finding some one to step in.

To summarize:
The game so far is basically near the same lines it was IRL (exceptions Guadalcanal in Jap hands and Northern Burma still in allied hands)
The naval losses so far were light to both sides, no carrier battle was fought.
Air losses are light on the allied side, bit heavier on the Jap side.
China is more or less static for the last few months.

Nevertheless I assume the Japs are in very good condition to fight. I as allied player intend to play to "the finish" - I want to see all those shiny toys (P-47s/P-51s/B-29s/Ki-84s/J2Ms/etc..) in action (haven't had the chance so far)!

It is 1 full year into the game and the score is almost tied! How in the world can you say that the Japanese player enjoyed his day in the sun?

I love picking up drops, but have my hands full currently. Sorry. Would be neat to see the r&d.

OK poor choice of words.

He obviously didn't ENJOY his day in the sun, but he still had it.

Just because he squandered his opportunity and wasted his day in the sun his opponent should be denied his day in the sun altogether?

This is why I have no respect for most Japanese players.

"I'll go ahead and shoot my bolt and once it's shot I'll simply take my toys and go home and leave my honorable opponent who offered me my day in the sun holding the bag."

I feel for Barb and truly hope he can find Japanese opponent worthy of him.

I have to step in to defend my opponent... He is not of the kind to bug out... we both shared the vision to see the late war stuff perform in the game. However his real live commitments grew up in the last year.

We had a game paused for several months due to real live schedules, both of us got married, I had a kid born, etc. At least he tried to continue the game after the long hibernation, but couldn't find the will to do so.

As you can clearly see from the game status, the big things to happen are "just behind the corner" - and I would say the most interesting part of the game too.

To me, the game looks very interesting in that there is normal level of expansion, and no wild losses.

It looks like it would be a very good pickup. Just not for me currently, sadly.

@Lowpe - yup, everything really important is just about to happen (actually no big scale naval ops are running right now)
@Rio Bravo - thanks
@Zeta16 - considering I had to go to work, have wife and a child, it is about 0,5-1 turns per day

As a former Japanese player, I want to apologize with Juraj once again for quitting, happy to learn you did effectively got into my reasons.

Let me say that Barb is a open-minded opponent, inclined to discuss rules, strategies, to give advices and help and so on. He’s a much better player than me and I did really enjoyed playing him. In fact, I think he teached me a number of lessons and now I’m a better player than I was when we started our game. In short I think he can be a very good opponent for everyone, from good-class player down to intermediate ones.

I’m ready to discuss every subject with my successor, strategies, my personal opinion about Juraj plans and so on. So, just send me a private mail when you’re ready to step in and I’ll be happy to answer as Juraj will confirm you as new opponent.

Sorry to hear your personal life interfered with your game, but I completely understand. Its why I haven't taken up a PBEM game ... life for me is too unpredictable at this point to commit to a game. Some day ...

It does seems likely that more Japanese players will quit early for the sorts of reasons that have been alluded to in this thread. However, is it accurate to say that most do?

I can only talk from personal experience but, having nearly always played PBEM as Japan, I have found that Allied players have always quit on me, not the other way round. I'm not trying to start some kind of tit-for-tat thing here, but there can be another side to this...

I don't think so...

At least 5 of my allied opponents have quit, usually early in the game. Some of them have been forum regulars.

Also, what does "quitting" means? To me it's people who just dissapper. If someone doesn't want to continue the game anymore, just say it. That's OK.

PBEM game is a long commitment, and it's not going to work if players don't match. There's a people around here who are always willing to exploit the system. Playing styles differ. I play AE because it's fun, but some PBEM games just are not fun - not worth wasting time. It's important to find an opponent who has same ideas of the game.

Hopefully I have found a substitute in Joglinks1 - he already has the turn, got password from adsoul64 and has taken a look into the turn... Keep your fingers crossed...

I totally agree, and yes it is generally people who disappear rather than announce that they want a change or are not enjoying it any more. That's a shame given how much has been invested in the game by that point.

Good luck with your new opponent Barb - fingers have been crossed!
