I recently reinstalled AE after a few years off. I went to load an old save game to get back into playing; unfortunately I run into a weird problem - the game "lags" like crazy. I have a solid state drive and windows 10. I haven't played the game since windows 10 or my solid state; so I dunno if its a command line to smooth things out or what.

(for example I will click on a carrier, it takes 30 seconds for the screen to pop up). It was a fresh install as well.

I ran into the same problem last week and was advised to read up in the technical section on fixes.

This was my fix. I right-clicked on the desktop icon, and in the box under "Target:" I modified the text to look like this (literally)

"E:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -cpu2 -altFont –multiaudio –dd_sw -px1920 -py1080

Now, you may notice that originally in this box was "autorun" or something, and I decided to take advice and copy over that. The result is the game runs well, but launches right into it, bypassing the pop-up meno that has update and the manual and all that. However, the autorun file is still there in File Explorer and can be accessed for that stuff.

I'm sure there may be better fixes.

Note, I loaded the game onto my mechanical hard drive instead of the solid state, so E: for me might be C: for you. You may already know about that kind of stuff.

Just tried the exact settings you have; no dice. I even tried -FixedArt and mixed a few settings; same problem still, clean install with no mods - updated fully.

I just encountered the same problem...
The settings below (provided by several forum members) seemed to help...now I'm just playing with the resolution settings so I can make things big enough to read...

Good Luck.

\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor

Also, in the PREFERENCES Screen, change MAP SCROLL DELAY to 1 or 0.

Turning off HEXSIDE DETAILS may help.

I think I read deepColor fixes lag. Anyway, good luck.

Cheers,

I just tried all of this; Map Scroll was 0, as well as I turned off ALL message delays to 0; deepcolor as well......unfortunately, LOL it took me 30 minutes just to finish 1 turn, without actually moving anything. Map Scroll did help speed up the movement; but it just feels like the game is running slow as heck.

Here's an example: it would show "coastwatcher spots 2 Japanese ships in port".......delays like 30 seconds......"coastwatcher spots 1 ship...... delays 30 seconds"..

Never encountered this; perhaps Erik might drop in.

Misconduct there are several threads there with LOTS of answers, far more than you tried. Have you tried "-SingleCpuOrders"? Have you tried "-dd_sw"?

BTW you have "-deepColor" spelled wrong, and the switches must be spelled perfectly, including upper/lower case.

I did search most of the threads; none worked why is why I'm stumped. Here's my command line now:
"C:\Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -deepColor -SingleCpuOrders -altFont –dd_sw -f -px1920 -py1080

Just a FYI here, I too have an SSD and had no problem with the game running on that.

Same here running Win7 on it.

I had sluggishness problems with my Win8.1 laptop that the -deepColor switch fixed. After upgrading it to Win10 it's still fine.

Bravo; now I don't have to spend 45 minutes just trying to look at an Air unit LOL
