I am, admittedly, a half hearted wargamer. I like the idea of being a grognard more than the actually work of being one. I have played them all, WITE, WITW, CW2, DC:CB, WITP: AE, etc etc. Fun stuff but nothing has "immersed" me more than Barbarossa. The decision mechanism, with its accompanying personality modifiers among high command, has sucked me in. I am engrossed with this game that has done the best job ever, IMHO, of modelling the linkage between performance on the battlefield and the whims of superiors. I have read many books on the struggles that Lee faced with the political goals of Richmond or Washington trying to fight the British on one hand and the Continental Congress on the other. But this game has made that conflict thrillingly come to life. Well done! I am very impressed. Now how about an American Civil War game where you play Lee or McClellan and Lincoln and Davis sabotage your best efforts???
