Thinking of upgrading my desktop to this & wondering on people's experiences w/ download times & installation as well as problems running game if any (I do use some switches now on Win8.1) I've heard about long download times so what about issues w/ timing out, resuming etc?

I upgraded to Windows 10 and thereafter experienced lagging of up to 2 seconds per click with the mouse that frankly made the game unplayable. Changing switches and so forth a nearly infinite number of times had no significant effect on the lagging.

However, for lack of a better explanation, I upgraded AE to the Beta Update dated 14 November and the lagging is entirely gone. I got my game back.

Perhaps the update was done in Windows 10...so far nobody has explained this behavioral change of the game.

Incidentally I upgraded to Win 10, experienced the lag, tried a zillion different switch combinations without significant effect, "downgraded back to Windows 8.1" and still experienced the lag. A zillion switch combos didn't get rid of the lag. Then re-upgraded to Win 10, tried some more switch combos, then added the Beta. With the Beta all I had to do was add some switch or other having to do with pixels to make the picture fill the screen. The lag was gone immediately after adding the Beta.

BTW, in case you haven't already figured this out, I understand virtually none of this "geek-speak" advice that one can find on the Forums..

For some reason, adding the switch -dd_sw seemed to get rid of my lag with Win10 on Monday. The thread in Tech Support section seemed to be very helpful.
