Surprised no one has responded; not an expert but my offer, AI experience only:

Set air doctrine %s to maximize number of missions, say 30% for starters
Ground support to combat events is valuable; use player ordered unit attacks for highest value targets
1st years Soviet AF isn't very effective; no need to rack up victories over obsolete equipment
There are a few ports (near L'grad) that should be reduced; worth the effort
Let game engine swap aircraft; not worth adm. pts

Any discussion? Always useful for my game

just about this, I'd say keep battering the VVS. Its not the gain for knocking out soon to obsolete planes that matters, its about stopping the Soviets gaining morale. If you don't by late 42 you will face a Soviet airforce that is large, increasingly using decent planes and has high morale. Not much you can do about the first two, but I think a German player can control the third.

I had an early ending PBEM where, among other mistakes, my opponent eased off on the airwar. I was really surprised how fast I was able to deploy high morale formations as a result as opposed to the usual problem of having to use anything that has morale over the mid 40s.

Ok thanks - just hard to catch the Soviet air after the first turn ;-D
Suggested TOE changes for German units at the recent patch? Anyone? I read in several AARs and threads taht many good German players do it - but never concrete enough to know how to apply it for myself...?
Also about security units - link them directly to OHK and use the Corps HQ for regular units?

I have all this in a tread or trends, but try to remember rbest I can.

% should be 0

intercept is 160%
Ground support 200/200, but I turn it off and on per attack.

Only other thing I do is bomb ports and I set that at 300%

Toe's I leave at 100% for infantry/panzer, but only turn on most of AGN as most Russian players go hard north and turn off refit in south.

ToE's for everything else I set at 71% for summer 41, then before Blizzard I send them all back to Germany.
I bring them back for the 42 summer at 71%.
By October 42 I set them all to 20%
1942 I turn all infantry refit on and 91% ToE.
Panzer division are set to 81% and PG to 91%.

I'm an AI only player but I believe most just delete the security unit commands which puts them with OKH.
I breakdown the units up to get the most bang for the buck in the cities they garrison , wouldn't
doubt that's S.O.P. for most.

Is it worth it to have night missions on? What about the % needed to fly in air doctrines - is 50% it?

Night Missions:

Get them in action and set them at 10 percent needed and 100 percent. You may face a U2 fanboy, an IL4 night mission VVS fanboy, an Li2 VVS etc.

Suck up all your construction units into OKH or the Fronts and NEVER let a Sov suck you into playing Locked HQs.

Thanks - what are your favourite routes for your FDB units - start where and move where?
Would you set % required to fly for air mission in the doctrine screen set to what %? 0% or 30% or leave it at 50%?
