Slowly getting to know the game and it's nuances. There's a lot more depth in this game than you'd guess at first sight. Have a couple of questions about gameplay. Hopefully some one can help me out.

1) I have cornered a couple of Soviet divisions and 2 headquarters in the northern port of Windau but they withstand the power of almost the entire 18 th army for multiple turns. The 18 th has the artillery card assigned. Is there a way to speed up the demise of the Russki's?

2) in the South I have surrounded the port of Odessa, having troubles squashing the resistance there as well. The siege artillery has been ordered there from Brest fortress, but it has been 'in transit' for ages. Could this be because my poor relation with 'Gercke' (distrustful) of am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Ramses,

The units in Windau would probably be receiving supply down the Baltic. One option would be to assign your AGN Theatre artillery to a single division in order to concentrate it (you'll lose half the benefit though). Alternatively try and gets as many Inf. Divs onto them as possible while making sure you don't exceed the stacking limits (excess casualties otherwise).

Odessa may well have a Major Garrison in which case it'll be a tough nut to crack. Siege artillery is the way to do this. Upsetting General Gercke will ensure that he doesn't go out of his way to prioritise it's movements through the rail network.

If you hover your mouse over the tool tip in his pic in the Command tab (bottom) it'll tell you what the chances of delay are which vary depending on your relationship level.

Siege artillery is something that greatly benefits from being gradually 'rolled forward'. Move it to a friendly, recently captured city so it's on hand when you need it. This requires you to commit it to a particular theatre however. Leaving it at Warsaw gives you maximum flexibility at the cost of increased travel time.

Cheers,
Cameron
