Some more resources for scenario/mod designers.

RACING THE SUNRISE: Reinforcing America's Pacific Outposts, 1941-1942 is a well researched study of all the USA pre-war movements in the months before the Pearl Harbor attack.

Fortnight of Infamy: The Collapse of Allied Airpower West of Pearl Harbor, December 1941 a good account of all the small actions that occurred throughout the Pacific in the weeks after Pearl Harbor.

General Kenney Reports: A Personal History of the Pacific War the memoirs of the man that led the Fifth U.S. Air Force, some good detail that is missing in the more general works. In fact if you check the footnotes of most books they refer to this as their source.

This book is a jewel and the basis for my "Saving MacArthur" project. Highly recommended.

+1 Used it extensively in my mod, esp. for the island defenses (Wake, Midway, Johnston etc.)
