This is my first after action report. I have been keeping these in a file and writing them as I go so one would have a feel for the game as I felt it.
July 12th
Total Soviet casualties are 623,000 while our losses only amount to 53,000. However tank losses continue to mount. To date all Panzergruppe have lost 375 medium tanks and 215 light tanks among them 110 PZIV’s and 215 PZIII’s. All Panzergruppe in each theatre have 67-73% operational tanks. All three theatres do not have enough fuel to sustain four days of operations (<1 quota). Will ask Luftwaffe once again to support air resupply. The last Soviet line of defense between Windau and Riga continues to be a pain in my …backside. The 18th Army under Kuchler continues clearing out the area and we need it over sooner than later. I NEED that Army at the real front in a week! The Soviets look like they are beginning to mount a solid defensive line between Orsha and Minsk in the Centre. The bulk of AGC is concentrated there but we will need to figure out a way to encircle them. The North doesn’t seem too well defended, especially the route north along the coast to Talinn. The Soviet defenses in the south are better but not significantly so. The Romanian Army along with the 11th Army is pressing southeast towards Odessa while simultaneously pushing cautiously towards our armies in the Lvov area.
Game note – Going to call in more PP now too. Have 12 before I call it in… and I get…well, I would have got 40PP but my game difficulty score would have dropped by 10 and the enemies would have went up by 10. While I really don’t know what all that would mean I guess right now I am not that desperate for PP’s. Maybe I will need them for the next turn …ctm (chuckling to myself). By now you know that 40PP doesn’t go as far as it used to so I don’t want to use that just yet. Crap! I now look at my decisions that I have to make:
1. Einstazgruppen creating chaos in the rear and I need at least 9PP to calm those A-holes down.
2. Civilian Oil – Isn’t this why we have a “Hitler” in the first place? Shouldn’t he be the one telling them to give up their gas? I need to get more oil to the front which will cost me another 9 PP.
3. More railway and truck baloney. Once again Wager and Gercke are in a pissing match about trains and trucks and I have to solve it. Can’t I just shoot both of them and start over? This will cost another 7PP for me only because Wagner can’t stand me and Gercke likes me.
4. AGC airfield needs to be relocated. I can’t ignore this. Maybe I should try and ask my ace staff guys to make a real freakin’ decision without them f’ing it up horribly? 6PP there.
5. Rail conversion for AGC. Tried saving PP early in the game and this is what I get. We are (of course) converting the wrong damn line. THANK YOU STAFF!!! 4PP to change the conversion route.
6. And lastly, the Eisenbahntruppe need more support in AGN which I need to do and will cost 5 more PP.
Grand total of 40PP. Guess I’m gonna need the PP’s after all.
Man I love this game!
