Hello and good day,

I recently read Pierre Razoux's translated book on the titular war, and I got to wondering if anyone's ever found a wargame on the subject. Given how very little territory changed hands I'm not sure it'd be a popular conflict for a game, but I certainly found it interesting to read about.

If anyone knows about any games on (or with some scenarios on) the subject matter, I would certainly appreciate hearing about them.

Happy holidays, regardless!

I just finished reading the book; while the book was very interesting, I agree that any wargames on the topic might not be.

CMANO has a few scenarios based on some of the air raids described in the book.

WinSPMBT covers ground combat at a tactical level. The free version of the game can be downloaded from here. There are some ready-made scenarios for the Iran-Iraq war – and you can easily create random battles using Iraqi and Iranian OOBs for the 1980-88 period.

It has a dlc called Basra 86

The game is hard though

I'd be very cautious about Schwerpunkt. This comes from one of their best customers

Matrix new Campaign Series Middle East might do with a little modding. Great game on a tactical scale.

Thank you all for the replies! I must confess my google searches had not yielded any results on the subject. I appreciate having places to look.

I own the Schwerpunkt Middle East Wargame, and it's covers all the critical conflicts.
The game system IS an acquired taste, and takes a little getting used to.
good hunting.

Victory Games... "Gulf Strike" with "Desert Storm/Desert Shield" expansion. Covers the Iraq/Iran War plus lots of possible scenarios.

Not a computer game, of course, but very detailed and quite complex.

It's almost mint... I'd be willing to part with it if someone wants to buy it.

Actually was made into a computer game for the Commodore 64 platform, I owned it and was one of the first wargames I bought for a computer. However, I ended up being very disappointed in the computer version, just didn't seem to work well. It was actually the board game that got me interested in it, I didn't play the actual board game, but in one of my other board games it had a very detailed insert about Gulf Strike which really intrigued me at the time.

Probably could still find it on some C64 emulator software...but not worth the time:)

Oh Man, thanks for bringing that Gulf Strike game up. I loved that game for my Commodore, I wish I had saved them. By the way, was that Gulf Strike Solitaire? I can't remember?

Pretty certain it had a single player mode, I don't recall ever playing it with other people. For me it was one of those games that sounded great and the material was awesome, but the gameplay was pretty tedious if I recall correctly.

Not sure but you might want to check into Campaign Series: Middle East 1948-1985. Maybe someone has or could create a mod for the Iran/Iraq war. Just a thought.

Campaign Series Middle East is a good game and the developers support it well....but don't believe any Iran/Iraq war scenarios exist in the base game and don't recall any customized scenarios released yet.

The Operational Art of War III has an Iran/Iraq '84 scenario under "classics" Folder.

Sounds like we have a winner.
