China has been extensively developed for RHS, in particular re the astonishing omissions in stock. China had many kinds of specialist aircraft, ships and units not modeled. It had more locations, of course, but also vastly more industry. Its units started "pre-defeated" by zero planning, zero supplies, low morale and experience ratings - even where they should be otherwise. The Chinese won a major battle for Changsha just after the Pacific War begins - the third such victory at that one location. As well, in RHS, China is seen as the cause and the heart of the Pacific War itself. For the strategic framework, see China and the Origins of he Pacific War by Dr Youli Sun, who was the first to be allowed unrestricted access to ROC archives. Apart from what you know from other sources - that the US, UK and NEI instituted an embargo on Japan with a view to forcing it out of China which directly led to the Japanese decision for war with them all - Dr Sun reveals it was an ROC policy to maneuver the US into war with Japan. Chinese leaders considered the US to be "the last, best hope" for China - which was suffering badly by 1941. It appears they did substantially succeed in this objective. Having decided to fight for China instead of abandon it, which due to combat losses was politically impossible, Japan should fight for it. Apart from that, in game terms, Japan had better fight for it. The somewhat simplified logistical system means the Allies do NOT need to fly fuel and bombs to China for use by bombers. Japan simply must drive the Allies from bases near the coast (similar to Ichi Go late in the war) unless they want to suffer excessive shipping losses by 1943. But nothing about a China campaign makes sense outside the context of the larger game. So we did not contemplate a separate, mini scenario. The only planned "mini scenario" for RHS is a Downfall one and it too is "mini" only in time - it is still full map. In fact, Japanese planning for offensive actions in 1945 can only be partially modeled even so - the attack on Panama by the First Submarine Flotilla can not be, for example.
