Hi there.

I bought DW:Legends in 2012, I think. My PC died last year and in the fun of dealing with Windows 8 then Windows 10, I've only just got around to recovering all my games from the last backup I made.

Two issues - the update doesn't work, and asks me to elevate the issue, and the game just doesn't start - once I push the play button, the screen goes back, and I get a few beeping noises and that's it.

Either something's wrong with my restoration of the game, or it's not playing nicely with my computer or W10.
The update thingie has access through my firewall, and fails after downloading the update. I've tried installing the updates manually but it still tells me I have to update. And I do meet the system requirements. Found some crash files for 1.5.0.12, 1.7.0.20 & 1.7.0.16 - I've attached one.

If I give you the serial numbers, can I redownload it? Otherwise, any suggestions to make it go welcome.

Just open a tech support ticket or contact support[at]slitherine.co.uk / http://www.matrixgames.com/support/ with your order details (order reference number or/and email address used when placed the order) and they will provide you with new download links.

once you have it, in windows 10 anyway,

add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one of them which was to blame.

That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is interfering with the game or update installation.

run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on you pc,

If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive.

Feel a bit silly now - read some other stuff, explored, and changed the movies from the default W10 app to WMP and now it works.

Thanks for the help, though.

Actually, it worked once, and now it doesn't. Straight after 'feeding the giant kaltors', it thinks about windowing it for a second, then jumps to a blank screen with the sounds of the movies playing but nothing showing. Which makes it a little hard to play. The one time it did work, it told me it was all up to date, so that's a bonus. But the windowing meant that the buttons for the game settings were off the bottom of my screen, so I had to exit.

So it's a resolution issue, I think. I've tried tinkering with the startup.ini, but that doesn't change anything and sometimes stops the game launching.

Again, any ideas? Otherwise, I'll try the tech support, but as I bought it 4 years ago and have no idea what the order number is, and have a different email now, is that going to be an issue?

make sure DPI is on default 96, and not set to 120 etc
