I am wondering what all the different pilot skills are? I looked through the manual, FAQ, and forums and was only able to piece together some of this information. Here is what I have so far:

Air – ability to attack air targets
NavB – important skill; ability to actually hit spotted naval targets with bombs
NavT – important skill; ability to actually hit spotted naval targets with torpedoes
NavS – extremely important for Dive Bomber (DB) or Torpedo Bomber (TB) pilots; ability to spot/engage ships
Recn - ability to perform recon missions to spot and quantify enemy ground units and installations
ASW - ability to spot and engage subs
Tran - ability to transport troops
GrdB – ability to attack ground targets with bombs
LowN - ?
LowG - ?
Staf – ability to strafe
Def’n – ability to defend against threats (AAA, enemy fighters); improves survivability against and during CAP

Would anybody mind helping me fill out this this and correcting any of my mistakes? Alternately, please point me towards the documentation for this! Thanks!

LowN - Same as NavB but when attacking below 2K feet
LowG - Sames as GrdB but when attacking below 2K feet

You missed "transport" ability to transport supply or troops, para included

ASW - the "spotting" part is not really strong in this skill. Most players find they need to have NavS patrols to spot subs and then the ASW patrols go in and localize the contact before attacking. NavS spotting also helps ship ASW TFs find and attack, and helps other surface ships avoid subs.

Strafe - trains at 100 feet altitude.

Low N and Low G - if you attack at 1000 feet an aircraft that has bombs and guns will bomb and possibly strafe. I think it drops to 100 feet to do that and then returns to the set 1000 feet.

NavT - you can set any altitude but the aircraft must descend to 200 feet to drop the torpedo.

Kamikaze - (Japanese only) squadron overall experience must be low (40 IIRC) to form the squadron. Skills required are sake drinking and pranging aircraft ...
