Playing the air war tutorial scenario, looking at bombing from Italy.

When I set up a BOMB CITY directive, there doesn't seem to be a way to add escorts which will accompany the bombers part way before turning back. The fighters I might want to use are listed as inactive with reason 'out of range'.

The doctrine and directive both say partial escort, so I had assumed I could assign groups to escort.

Am I missing something, or is partial escort impossible? If it is, do I run air sup directives to mimic this behaviour?

You just assign those out of range air groups. They will accompany the bombers up to their range and then turn back as long as partial escort is set to Yes.

OK thanks. Guess they could tweak the interface to somehow show this is how it works.

When you add escorts to the strike package you should see the hexes they will accompany the strike shaded green. Those hexes in the path that will be unescorted will be shaded purple.

Is there no way to get fighters escorting on returning way?
With Bombing the Reich is normal for far targets to set up around 50% of fighters for coming and around 50% for returning by using delay function.
