Running windows 10.

Can open set up screens and amend options but cannot get out of it. Have to open task manager and close game. I cannot therefore deploy any options orvturn off the music etc.

Also the auto updater is still not working and still fails as reported elsewhere in a different thread. I did find the manual update, but that is not the point.

I was really looking forward to playing this as the board game is good. It should not have bugs this long after issue.

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one of them which was to blame.

That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is interfering with the game or update installation.

run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

please make sure you are running the latest game version,

If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as our updates are comprehensive.

Same issue with screen. It would seem they are "cut-off" too soon in the Win10 environment?
On a couple of the screens you can see a very thin slice of the button at the very bottom of the screen,
but not all...for example on the Preferences you cannot see anything. The draw window provided looks like its about 70pixels too
short in the vertical dimension for drawing canvas/or something is overlaying it...

I also have no Allied units available in the scenario editor...the drop down does not "drop down"...the axis is ok, but no allied...
(might be related to not changing what side I'm editing in scenario editor...cause I can't close and save it...)
I'm just now checking on a windows 7 machine...but, I want the Win10 portable laptop to work...

SO...MODERATOR....How Can?

OK...further information....
Seems these wonderful Win10 notebooks have very high res screens...so Win10, to help, gives you the option of setting system to increase size of the fonts
and display---they default to setting it to 150%.....
AT THAT SETTING....things drop off the bottom--the behavior we are seeing where the tops of the buttons are just being shown in some windows (preferences,
scenario editors)...
SO---if you set things to 100%....the windows show up!.....
ONLY PROBLEM is the GAME PLAY window is OFFSET to the LowerRight so you only see part of the game window....the right side and bottom of the screen are
not visible.....

SO---clearly someone who has some access to the display interface from the code needs to rethink how 0,0 is defined and where.

IN THE MEAN TIME---if you want to set preferences, or use the Scenario editors on a highRes Win10 box (like my lenovo tablet) Set the Win10 display to 100% not the default 150%, do what you need, save things....then reset to 150% to play.....

tedious, annoying, but it works...

very few games work past 96DPI, which is the default windows res at 100%, anything that's more than default will or could cause problems, sometimes screen makers alter the sizes so they don't fit in the default box, eg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_size

any none default one always leaves a black box that doesn't fully fit the screen, nothing much game related but hardware and pc makers who haven't used the default size screens or res tbh

Display resolution are common, laptop screen from some makers aren't following the rules as they aren't in the guides for true screen sizes setup by default many many years ago...

to make it clearer, if the default is 15" for lets say a 4/3 screen and maker add's another few mil, then it offsets the size by a small factor, so throws out anyone using it as a 4/3 display as there's no such size as 15.1 or .2 or .3, but there is a point 4 so 15 is default, and so is 15.4, both will work, where as 15.1 will on some, not on all

class dismissed there goes lesson 101 in When the common aspect ratio went from 4:3 to 16:9, and some laptop makers didn't get the memo, or decided to not listen and do as they like...

Yes, please set the font size to standard before running COH. Win10 lets you do this by application -- overriding the global font size -- in the properties tab somewhere.
