You can, I was dividing air groups last night for shipping. Using the latest beta.

Perhaps some units don't allow it while others do? Can you post a screenshot of a unit that won't divide?

They could never be divided.

Think for a moment. How do you divide an air unit which has a maximum of 2 aircraft. There are no partial bits of an airframe in a unit.

Oh yeah, right. I was picturing one of the larger floatplane units that begin the campaign restricted on the west coast. They can be divided but are not for use on a ship.

Your screenshot is missing the bottom quarter of the screen.  In the tech sub forum there is a screenshot of beta 1125 and all the buttons are there.

Suggest you take a new screenshot getting all of the air unit screen in the shot and post that in the tech sub forum if all the buttons are truly missing.  Most likely the problem is only at your end.

Hi Alfred

Sorry to be a pain, but if you scroll down my whole page is there...

and is the divide button supposed to be right above the

Show USN "BASE" button??

it is not there.... Not that big of a problem... although, I've found several other forum
messages saying they can't find the button either... when I play the pre-1125 my button is there...

no problem, game is still the best!!!

I see the whole image, I will repost it inline with this post. It should have Divide Unit above Show USN ForwdAirCenPac but doesn't.

Which scenario is this?

The ability to subdivide is set by the scenario designer. If it isn't there, you can't divide the unit.

You can only divide by a third anyways and I don't think any allied surface ship takes more than four aircraft. (maybe five) So, I doubt you will get these planes on a warship. Also, they (ships) all come with their own organic float planes units. Why would you need more? By late 43, float planes on American ships for the most part go away when you upgrade. The large float plane squadrons are useful for training and ASW work. Most can be upgraded to SBDs by mid 43 and would serve you better that way. The dauntless has greater range and is much more useful in the long run.

Most Allied warships come with their own air unit. If the unit is destroyed, you can always buy it back. I believe some RN ships arrive without floatplanes, but if you offload the floatplanes off some ships that need to be withdrawn, you can put them on the ships that have aircraft carrying capacity, but no floatplanes.

The 18 aircraft inland patrol units in the USN were never put on ships and were never intended to be put on ships. Their job was to patrol for Japanese subs near Allied bases. As the SB2C replaced the SBD on carriers, the old SBDs went to the inland patrol squadrons as the SBD was a better platform for that job than the Kingfisher.

I often use most of the inland patrol squadrons for training. You can train up a lot of pilots with them.

Some units can divide. Some can't. I've noticed this with units on both sides of the OOB. And yes, some of those that can't divide are 15+ planes. I can think of the VRF groups in particular (that's probably WAD, to prevent a possible exploit by having more replenishment groups, I guess?) but also some of the VF units that arrive on CVEs/CVLs. Not all of them can resize, and not all of them can divide.

I also noticed that several of the VS groups (like the one pictures) do not have a divide unit option.
