Here is the NATO version of the Battle of Kodel Channel.

As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Ok, so the secret to winning this scenario as the USSR is to just throw your MIG-21 in huge groups against any target that you want to take out :s

I actually lost playing as the allies...

I have found out that it's no longer possible for me to manually coordinate my fighters offensively anymore on this small scale map and thus the AI, for the first time, has an definitive edge over me in air combat.

I also tend to use my forces sparely and in smaller batches and thus the AI could overwhelm me with an everlasting swarm of MIG-21’s and other fighters.
So in order to win this scenario I’ll have to, for the first time, let the AI fight my air combat for me. After I have neutralized the USSR long range SAM sites with an all-out low altitude high speed weasel strike, I’ll mass all my fighters individually into one big cloud of death on a intercept mission and extend the patrol execution zone to overlap the USSR patrol waypoints and let it rip.

This will hopefully let me destroy enough USSR AC to push through an anti-shipping strike later on.

Ok, I just won this scenario as the allies using the previously described tactics. Although it took a loss of 95% of my fighters to accomplish it... This scenario is hell....

Of course it was fun, but it forces you to take a whole new approach to air combat as the MIG-21 swarm eats up a lot of air to air missiles and the only way to successfully combat them is to release your own F-16 swarm on them.

It certainly is an interesting scenario to play.

Thanks for making it.

I don't suppose driving a SAM all the way towards Larz or Parchim matches your idea of how it meant to be played, but anyway I started by driving them forwards to somewhere 30 NM due east of Kiel.

Plus couple more notes, I was able to fully kill Backfire strike, so they will not be returning; now I plan to drive my SAG inshore and hit SAMs with guns. Poor man's SEAD, sort of. One more thing on SEAD was that Kormoran is ineffective as a decoy. SAMs do not seem to notice it until the last moment. I thought I can lure them into expending their missiles by BOL-firing Kormorans in a general direction of a SAM platoon, but is not nearly as effective as I hoped it would be.

I expect 30 NM east of Kiel is still NATO ground, so it is not really THAT bad. After exchanging 60x Falcons for like 12x Backfires, I need some sort of anti-air coverage :)

At 1 day 4 hours to go, my CAP was down to 1 Eagle and 1 Phantom, rest of the CAP aircraft destroyed. However, the SAG was going stronger than I expected, and blown the enemy SAG and minesweepers out of the water. This way, my minefield, with mines and 4 submarines lying ambush right at the edge of the minefield, should work as the defense if SAG does not make it to the amphibs.

Well I won by decisive Tornado/Kormoran strike. However, in the end I had literally no fighter aircraft left, and no missiles for Patriot. And no missiles for Denmark I-Hawk (near Copenghagen/Zound).
