Today's ship losses (plus one from tomorrow). At least one more LST will sink and a number of others are heavily damaged. No LCI(G) were sent to accompany them, instead being saved for troop convoys, but heavy destroyer escorts were assigned and three old BB bombarded. It was not enough. nature in the form of the conditions off Naha also tore up the LST making deliveries.

Finally a new turn :P

Good progress all around. I'm really, really, really curious to see the results of the first attack at Naha tomorrow. Seems like you'll be bringing the big floating guns to bear. Wonder how much havoc they will cause.

Also interested in the Hainan invasion, I had forgotten you were planning to do it so soon. Guess it will be nice not having to worry about those 2 bases.

Why not soften them up for a few days prior to the first attack?

It is not like they are going somewhere.

I guess forts 6.

Certainly thought about that. If Naha is as tough a nut to crack as I anticipate, there will be plenty of time between ground assaults for the softening up!

Pretty modest, I think. I'll pull a full list next turn.

Walter has used his LBA very much against troops rather than diverting massive numbers for ASW.

I spent more time examining your choices on the previous page than loading my own "smallish" invasion. Funny too, still can't make up my mind!?

Over our southern armoured unit the Imperial fighters won the battle with a sweep, but it was small combat. Miles below, the 1st Army Tank Regiment is down to 81% disruption. The convoys heading for Kiungshan have not been spotted by the enemy and will land tomorrow.

The Imperials were retreated into Georgetown!

It's good that the RN has a tradition of intrepid sailors, because Willis and his carriers are once again sitting under Extreme Overcast, squarely in range of the IJN survivors. Weather forecast: Clear! 60 AV of two units was airlifted into Utan Melintang today. The air transports will switch to supply while 29 AV of the 50th Indian Para Bde marches NE to block the road and rail there, and will continue right on into Taiping. Their aim there will be to prevent retreat from Georgetown, holding until larger units arrive from the NE. They will be joined by another element (mentioned yesterday) loading on an LST at Langkawi that will land in the clear hex on the coast road. The balance of both the 50th and the 3rd Commando Bde are loading aboard LSI(L) at Victoria Point for sea lift to Utan Melintang. The convoy will be covered by the RN fast BB TF after they rearm. Of course those elements of the 50th will then make haste to reinforce the advance element. Two 25 plane P-40 groups that have been training on LowGround are moving into Alor Star and will begin strikes on the troops in the open at Georgetown (1x 500 lb + 2x 100 lb bombs each).

The excess combat units are now loading at Daito Shoto, with only the 112th Cavalry Rgt staying on as garrison. At Naha only two of the divisions are being left on the line, the other four are in reserve mode to facilitate recovery. The two artillery Bn are in good shape but will stand down to avoid instigating counter-battery fire that interferes with combat unit recovery. There were no air strikes at all against the defensive positions at Naha, which certainly did not help our side. The cause is unknown as weather seemed adequate. Could it be fires at the base from the night's bombardments?

China. Notice that troops are moving out of Nanning to the east, obviously in response to our threat to other areas.

Today's ship losses. Notice that Yamato sunk again, frightened by not being hit again. So far Yamato has yielded us possibly more than 10,000 VP by sinking over and over again.

Well, ouch. Naha was really a bloodbath. Forts lvl 6 before the fights, you also had a bad roll.. It's going to take a while. You'll have to bomb/bombard it to the ground I think.

Apart from that, it's very nice that you managed to have those units retreat to georgetown. And also good progress at Lang Son.

About the Yamato, the Devious Admiral has you fooled! You think it's a battleship, but it's actually a sub. So your forces keep saying it's been sunk...

Per Lowpe's request on subs, here is a sunk ships report. Looks like 32 Allied subs sunk to date.

Attached by not displayed, open it then click as needed to maximize it on your screen so the columns line up.

Thanks.

Something always goes wrong when you have complex plan. At least your bombardments went in.

Our subs got an xAK.

In China, only one air strike on our southern armour unit today and that one was roughed up. Disruption down to 71%. Two of our divisions have contacted the 3 enemy units 2 hexes NE of Pakhoi but their strength is unknown. Now that they have blocked retreat into that road hex, the armor to the SE will attack the two small enemy units there (2,320 troops and 15 guns).

The Kiungshan invasion landed without major incident and will attack tomorrow even though the Lushai Brigade is 30% disrupted. They appear to face about 800 enemy. Our troops SE of Kunming, whose last attack had elements of success, have finally gained enough supply and will attack again tomorrow.

With most carriers' torpedo inventory exhausted, they will retire to Colombo to get Activity in dry dock and started on repairs. Interesting that Haruna is still in business, too. We have the road and rail blocked SW of Taiping, but it is good that we are leaving one force behind at Utan Melintang. There is an enemy unit of unknown strength heading for that base from the east, in the jungle across the river. The various air strikes on Imperials in the open at Georgetown were very effective, including the newcomer P-40 groups. And so was the naval bombardment.

The movement of many support forces from Burma has provided a full complement for Vinh, which should arrive in a few days by rail. That will allow the 4EB to move there from Hue without waiting for base forces to catch up. Those base forces will, in turn, leap frog into China via Haiphong.

Still marching across Java.

The troops at Naha are recovering well. Of course the missing air strikes from yesterday were found today. Clearly the work of spy electrons hiding in the save file! Overcrowding is relieved on Daito Shoto, where the airfield is now size 3. The bombardment of Amami Oshima has motivated the air group there to leave, so those CL will switch to Naha. The bombardments at Naha are all the same as the day before, except for the Iowas, which are being held with the carriers.

Speaking of which, the other two fleet carrier TF have replenished at Guam and will take on replacement aircraft before heading back to the battle zone. Two CVL upgraded to Hellcat -5 models, while all carriers upgraded to TBM-3.

China.
