Somewhere in between the various 1.09 RC versions, an intermittent and very annoying flicker of the Unit Status display developed on my machine.

I did not play often, in the last few months, so I cannot say for sure exactly when it started.
I'm playing now version 757.9 and, in the right column, the Unit Status display flickers noticeably when the game is unpaused (once every few seconds). Group Weapons, just below, is unaffected.

I'm running Windows 10 in a virtual machine on a Mac (vmware fusion).
While my setup is peculiar, I must say I'm running Command on this machine since the beta releases, and never had any problems with flickering -- or any other issue, by the way..

Glad to know if someone else experienced this behaviour or have any suggestion on the issue

regards
Guido

I'm definitely still experiencing it, on 757.12, really annoying.

Hmmmm okay I'll take a look... Does it happen more in some scens than other? Or for certain units? (Ships vs aircraft?) There might be some refreshing going on that is only visible in certain cases.

Tutorials 1 - Exeter surface group selected, unit status flickers about 1 time per second, very annoying.

Tutorials 2 - Air base selected, no flicker; Air group (on strike mission) selected, flickering only once in several seconds.

Hope it helps..

Hi, I'm witnessing the same problem. I just finished installing Command on my new rig which runs with Windows 10. Didn't encountered such problems with Windows 7 on my laptop. It appears to happen to all units in all scenarios (I randomly loaded around 15 scenarios and ran them for three seconds). Might have something to do with the OS, I don't know. Hope this helps!

I'm still seeing it, if somehow attenuated.

In the example above (uncle bob's tutorial #1), group now flickers once in 5 - 10 seconds (was much worse than that).

As an update, I've recently completed these steps:

- re-installed Command, updated to v. 1.10
- in the process, re-installed Directx
- updated to the last version of vmware fusion
- fiddled a lot with win10 & vmware optimization tips

Net result, the flicker is still there, no difference.

I gather from the thread's title that something new is coming in version 1.11 to help ease this problem.

I'm available to test any beta or rc release whenever it becomes available, if this is of any help (I'm one of the original beta testers, btw).

Bummer.

Can you describe the flickering in v1.11 please? Does it blink once every second? Whenever data changes? Anything else worth noting?

The flickering is clearly the result of a redraw of the Unit Status box, or a good part of it, while a friendly unit or group is selected.
I think of the unit image as the most probable culprit.

It seems to me that the Unit Weapons box is redraw also, but the thing is barely visible at all..

The flicker does not seem to be linked to some visible event (i.e. not something logged in the log window).
AFAIK no map visibility toggle affects it (range circles, etc.)

It is unfrequent if game speed is left to 1:1.
It becames evident if game acceleration is turned on, even at the lowest settings.

The box is redraw about once in 2-10 seconds, I cannot see a pattern.

Interesting, thanks!

Do you use No-Pulse mode in time compression?

Could you try to disable unit image and see if the flickering stops?

Could you also try to disable High-Fidelity mode. Any changes?

And finally, disable No-Pulse mode. Any improvements?

Update (B805): I have been using no-pulse mode for all the test. Switching to pulsed mode, the flickering is still there, but it's much less frequent.
Toggling HD mode does not have such an evident result.

Sure, as soon as I grab it. Thanks for your efforts fixing this really "niche" issue..

The flickering is still an issue. I don't believe it is related to Direct-X, game settings, OS, etc. It can be mitigated by manually changing the offending contact's status to something other than whatever it's currently set at (neutral, friendly, hostile, etc.) Typically if a side goes hostile and some units, mostly airborne, are "unknown" they flicker.

I'm on 64 bit Windows 10 Home, i7-4790/8GB RAM/etc. with most options "on." It doesn't matter if they're off. The issue persists.

Hmmm weird...

Any chance you could make a video & explanation? Just so that I can see the same things that you do?

Thanks!

Is the scenario using multiple sides, with some allied to each other? The units switching between neutral, unfriendly, etc, may not necessarily be a problem - it may be displaying the status of one side, and then the allied side.

The original issue here was the 'Unit Status' screen flickering from memory. Your problem seems to be related to the units on map 'flickering' between contact statuses??

The flickering I see is on the group/unit map. Contacts will change between "unknown" and "unfriendly" or any other combo.

Emsoy,

I'll make a video next time it happens and post it here. I'll try to explain what's going on in the scenario too.

That should have been fixed in the latest RC
