Newest Beta
Japan 1st Turn

Kido Butai will not launch. I have tried moving it around and even given it different targets. Tried Naval Attack and then Airfield in the afternoon and still no launch. Tried night attack... but nothing. Weather says clear over target and CV group, but still no launch i also noticed that the attacks on Manilla do no go off either. Attacks on Clark and Iba seem to go ok but no Manilla strikes or sweeps.

Maybe a setting wrong or just my bad luck? Any help would be apreciated.

Uhm.. a few details would be nice

First. Deep breath. It is a game, after all

What scenario, what are you trying to do etc etc etc.

It is not bad luck.

To get any really useful assistance you really need to provide data.

1.  Which scenario is this?
2.  Is this on the standard map?
3.  Is this an historical or non historical start?
4.  Is the computer playing the Allies?
5.  What is the KB's target?
6.  How far from the target is the KB?
7.  What is the exact air mission assigned to the embarked KB air units?
8.  What is the range set for the KB air units?
9.  The air units striking Clark and Iba are flying from which airfield.  What is their exact assigned air mission?  What is their set range?
10. The air units not striking Manila are flying from which airfield.  What is their exact assigned air mission?  What is their set range?

Also provide screenshots of:

(a) The KIB task force information screen
(b) Each of the air unit information screens on one of the KB carriers.

Go  through this exercise and if you have paid any attention to the manual, the answer should become quite obvious.

If you have gone into each air group screen and properly set the strike within range of target, I would also look at whether escorts have been assigned. Bombers will often refuse to fly unescorted if there are known to be enemy fighters at the target.

As for weather - what you see at the start and end of the turn is not necessarily the weather that was happening at the moment the strike was due to launch. Weather varies throughout the 24 hours and the "forecast" is just a general trend over a wide area, not what will happen at a particular few hours in the future.

EDIT: PS- Also check your air groups for other assignments in the buttons below the mission assignment session. If you did not use "Stand down" to wipe out their previous orders, like search, training and patrols, when you set a new mission the original assignments will still be carried at the bottom section.

Thank you for the help. I took a deep breath and went back and verified everything and noticed the attacks on Manilla returned do to range or weather though they are the standard non changed attacks. This is a Scene 1: Beta: PBEM....so i set the cap and search from Pearl and Manilla and nothing launches from either location.

It appears to be weather related: KB will launch on Hong Kong, Iba, Clark and Lahanai but it appears weather keeps the planes grounded in Manilla and Pearl. So i have tried to turn off advanced weather but i think it is set at this point? So i either start with no Pearl/Manilla strike or i start the turn over again. Is this correct or is there a way to change the weather?

Yep, nothing you can do about the weather.

Try set some other arrival hex for KB to launch from plus give different orders to couple other TFs. Weather seems to be randomized on the run, and rnd seed is affected by your actions during the night phase

If you did not save your turn just before executing the action (shame on you) you can still retrieve it from the game slot 001 Pre-Turn Save (unless you went and tried subsequent turns).
Weather is randomized and moving things around does seem to change what happens, but I have also heard that exiting the game completely and restarting the computer will reset the random number generator so that next time you try to run the turn the weather has a chance to change again.
So I would do both - move some things and do the restart.

Until I see the screenshots and specific answers to the questions I raised I am not convinced it has anything to do with weather.

Weather is not an issue on turn 1.

Thanks folks for all the suggestions. I am not sure what i did different but a did a quick restart today and used the same setting and same move but it worked. Obviously i did something different but i am not sure what it was and i am not sure i care to spare the brain cells to figure it out.

Thank you Alfred for reminding me that i am not smart enough or dedicated enough to play this game. I shall quietly slink back into my hole.

Alfred may come across as impatient or blunt, but he IS trying to help you and teach you how to effectively get the best advice. Best to overlook the barbs and accept the good info IMO. I should know - I have gotten a lot of feedback from Alfred recently thanks to my failing faculties and laziness in failing to look up the latest info.

Alfred is giving good advice here if you want help. It has nothing to do with your intellect.

Post pics!!!
Give lots of info!!!

If you don't take the few seconds to give appropriate context, why should anyone offer their years of experience to help (and yet they usually try to anyway, just can't be so effective without details)?

I apologize Albert... that did not come off as i meant. I am very appreciative of your efforts, and what you and others have done to improve this game. I really meant that i am too lazy to do the research and have spent many nights frustrated because of that. Your efforts have helped me many times in the past, and i thank you for your work.

Tthanks to you and others this game has expanded and improved.

I've seen other posts were people complain that the game is too pro allied but I think not letting the KB make strikes on Dec. 7th is going just a bit too far and being just a bit too blatant!
