ORIGINAL: NEHT I bought this game because i wanted to use it for my military, near-future science fiction setting, but as there is no option to edit databases (i need railguns, lasers, etc. in many versions and also armors or even force fields), so i have no use of this game. I am not saying that CMANO is bad and i can understand reasons why database editing is practically exluded, but i am sad. Maybe someone could direct me to some other game, where i can implement my vision? If you are looking for a space opera setting (force fields, etc.), Command is not the game you want. If you are interested in near future hard sf stories (e.g., a Sino-Japanese war in 2030), it is very much the game you want. If you are interested in alternate history stories (e.g., a resurgent French Empire with four carrier battle groups starts beating the crap out of other European countries in 2010...NATO falls apart...America stays neutral and an Anglo-German alliance must face down the French Beast)...Command is very much the game you want. If you want to tinker with hundreds of existing types of ships and submarines, swapping out weapons and sensors, creating an almost infinite number of possible variants (e.g., LCS with lasers instead of 30mm guns), which will not be part of the official database but which you can save to your scenarios and which other people can copy and use in their own scenarios (which is kind of like being able to edit the database)...Command is very much the game you want. Enjoy.
