Middle attacks

This is where I am attacking in the middle West. I want to be on the West side of the river come spring..

Pelton will reestablish his line each time for now. I then will reattack.

its a 3 hex corridor. He plugs whole each time.

I think the retreat here is subject to the new retreat rules.

I noted the now low number as compared to before when thru a zoc. it's actually not that low for this battle.

Brian, I have not been lucky enough to play through this far in the game as Soviet (or German). I thought once I did get there the on board artillery striking from 2 hexes off would help break the German front line, but I don't see you using any of them. Have you found them of no use?

I have 2 art and 2 rockets divisions so far at turn 85.

They have been used. They are disbursed at this time.

Not sure how many I should build nor where to keep them for attack.

I think Pelton had too many games ongoing when he did these moves. Losing concentration.

He left a fort in front line. We get closer to Leningrad

Again attacking same area. This time I routed the hq before this attack.

No support for the D team.

This was a key forest I wanted cleared with no fort.

1585 tanks 2400 guns

Another huge German defensive stand.

I don't believe Galitsky has a good armor rating. Somehow he got the lead role.

Down Crimea way I continue my build up. I am waiting for a snow turn.

I do launch a futile Inf attack on the far left unit down south. Pelton does not react.

His recon was nil during the mud and I have been hiding the tanks behind inf, hq and airbase.

His D cv is near 65 on the land bridge.

here is my preattack Crimea force. I get a snow turn.

I attack left hex with Infantry and cav only. I lose bad this turn.

I figure Pelton will send reinforcements and the whole O buildup will be a waste.

I awake to the same front. Not much changed. No clear reinforcements.

Perhaps even with recon in area the buildup remains hidden. Good question for Pelton?

I ATTTACK with inf first , then move them out then more attacks. Plus 3 airbombs.

I finally get to this battle.

Tight battle.

The lines hold.

I now expect massive reinforcement from Pelton.

I also attack the other 2 German crossing hexes to drain off supply from other locale German troops

Pre moves turn 85.

The question is.

Which hex to attack?

Guess now before the next panel....

That 8-8 German Infantry seems new to area.

721 tanks

Model v Bobkin

I attack the left hex. Better chance of attacking weak rum and Hun troops with hasty tanks.

This Hun and Luftwaffe Inf divisions must have been the reinforcements sent.
The are on rr but probably could only unload the prior turn and not advance.

The stack retreats easily from a hasty tank attack as I funnel tanks thru the breakthrough hex.

I do not have a final position picture.

I also push the 7-7 German unit back onto the German HQ. I think Model is command of that hq. I bomb it.
I also push the 4-4 Rumanian Inf back onto the swamp rr hex and rout the Army Group south hq under it.

I push a tank unit up to the swamp which means train reinforcements will not be able to get to the front line next turn.

Also I wedge a tank to the left where I retreated that Luftwaffe stack so that they can't get to breakthrough hex from that side.

And this is where the game is now with Pelton having to figure out what the heck to do.

the only issue I see with a push out of the Crimea is truck use, since the rail lines in the Crimea I dont believe work for supply. Its one of the reasons after I retook it I didnt push hard further north was so I wasnt burning trucks- wanted to stay close to the ports for re-supply distance. Maybe im wrong on this but it seemed when I looked at supply distance all my units were tracing to the ports, could be that I had retaken the ground tho and the rr engineers wont fix it until the main route re-opens in my game tho.

I kept enough forces there to keep him honest but all the tanks and heavy artillery shifted back to the Kharkov/DZ operations.

But then I bump up against the 27th Panzer at the swamp hex.

The prior turn Pelton had pushed my tank unit back and thus able to
get the tank division into the front swamp via the train.
