+1 for the AWESUM sub drone

It's actual name is "Blackwing". the picture from the USNI article has it at 3 inches wide and 30 inches long with an endurance of an hour, forward and side looking EO/IR cameras, and Link 16 for comms. It is deployed from the 3-inch countermeasures dispensers. For LA-class, Virginia-class, and Ohio SSGNs.

REMUS 600 ROV in service with the USN is designated/renamed the Mk.18 Mod 2 Kingfish. The US Navy started operating them in 2015

Speaking of the XM501 NLOS missile, I couldnt find the actually deployed Chinese equivalent, or rather the equivalent to the Spike-ER, in the DB.

The AFT-10/HJ-10 NLOS launcher was officially unveiled during last year september's victory parade, and was previously shown in operation during the 2014 Sino-Russian SCO Peace Mission wargames:

Imagery of this missile and its launcher appeared in Chinese coverage of the 24-29 August 'Peace Mission 2014' exercise involving Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members. According to reports, these vehicles were part of the 112 Mechanized Infantry Division of the 38th Group Army based near Beijing.

Two of these missiles were seen carried by and launched by a version of the new ZBD-04A armoured personnel carrier (APC), also fitted with a new optical/imaging guidance system. The ZBD-04A may be able to carry up to eight missiles.

There is some confusion regarding the number of Chinese NLOS missile programmes. At the 2012 Zhuhai Airshow, the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) revealed details of a straight-wing CM-501G missile that, according to publicity, featured a 43 kg warhead and a 70 km range.

Meanwhile, a 22 August report on the popular Chinese-language Korolev blog provided specifications for what it called the AFT-10, which could be a shorter range version of the CM-501G or a developmental variant.

The AFT-10 has a length of 1,850 mm; width of 165 mm; weight, including launch system, of 150 kg; and a warhead weighing 43 kg. Its solid-rocket booster and micro turbojet engine confer a range of 10 km, a cruise speed of 150 m/s, and an attack speed of 230 m/s.

At the 2012 Zhuhai show China also revealed the Sichuan Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation's WS-33 optical/imaging guided rocket, which is longer than the CM-501G at 3,300 mm and heavier at 200 kg, but has a similar 70 km range. From the missile's brochure it is not clear whether it used fibre-optic guidance and it may use datalinks instead. The WS-33 uses folding delta wings compared with the CM-501G's folding straight wings.

Chinese interest in fibre-optic guided missiles dates back to the early 1990s, when academic engineering publications began to examine Western developments. A 2005 article indicates that a Chinese FOGM missile may have been tested during the 2001-2005 Five Year Plan period, with one article providing an image of what may have been an early prototype.

Details and imagery of a new missile began to appear in late 2011. A Chinese state broadcast on 25 December 2011 featured a story about Chinese Academy of Engineering anti-tank guided-missile (ATGM) expert Wang Zhi and also featured an ATGM historical display area showing for the first time a new missile with large fold-out wings similar in configuration to the Israeli Rafael Spike NLOS. In January 2012 images started appearing of the ZBD-04A APC armed with new NLOS missile destined for the Shenyang Military Region.

China's intention to develop fibre-optic guided missiles for multiple platforms was signalled at the 2005 China International Defence Exhibition (CIDEX), when a Chinese company displayed a fibre-optic cable developed for missile guidance.

Its poster depicted a long-range missile conducting an over-hill land attack, ground attack, and anti-aircraft launches from submarines and ground attack from a helicopter. Another Chinese poster from July 2013 of the new Type 032 ballistic missile test submarine also indicated it may be used to test an anti-aircraft variant.

And now, something about the strange nomenclature of "AFT" and "AKD" as shown above:

The "HJ-10" designation, previously believed to be the Chinese Hellfire ATGM equivalent is actually the AFT-10 NLOS missile, as it is revealed here.

The Sino-Hellfire's real designation is actually "AKD-10", as the "K" and "D" in the designation stands for "Air-to-Ground/Kong-Di/空地", while the "F" and "T" in the AFT-10 stands for "Anti-Tank/Fan-Tanke/反坦克".

Here, an official commermorative coin for the successful development of the AKD-10A improved Sino-Hellfire, that has also been spotted during the September 2015 Parade carried by a Z-10 attack helicopter, along with quad-pack TY-90 anti-helo AAMs. The white/blue basic AKD-10 above shows a significant different and smaller seeker window (derived from the Krasnopol semi-active laser guided artillery round seeker) compared to the new AKD-10A, whose seeker is now reminiscent of the AGM-114 Hellfire:




Similiarily; the ATGM previously known as "HJ-8" is now AFT-8, "HJ-9" is AFT-9 etc. The air-launched variants for the "HJ-8" ATGM are, unsurprisingly, AKD-8.

These are the actual designations for these two systems that has caught so much headache for PLA watchers over the years. It seems like the HJ/Hongjian (meaning "Red Arrow") designation has been reserved for export variants of these ATGMs, while the PLA are using the AKD/AFT designations. Case in point; the new HJ-12 Sino-Javelin ATGM, which still didnt receive its official AFT-designation, indicating that it is still not deployed in the PLA.

Hence, I would request three things:

- Change the designations of all Chinese ATGMs from HJ- to AFT- or AKD- accordingly.
- Add the AKD-10A as a seeker improved variant of the HJ-10 with a tighter CEP (2% vs previous 5%).
- Add an anti-helicopter loadout of the Z-10, Z-19 and Z-9W variants equipped with TY-90 anti helicopter AAMs.



Also, upon further browsing the DB, it seems that the Z-10 "Fierce Thunderbolt" Helicopter misses its 23mm chaingun.

small corrections regarding Type 056/056A PLAN corvettes:

1. decoy launcher is not 2x15 barrel Type 946/PJ46. It is new (unfortunately designation is not known) 2x9 barrel, see picture:



Also, its safe to assume that as most other China DLs, it can shot both chaff and flare rockets, (currently only chaff)

2. most sources credits it with 2 jammers, type also unknown, see for example:

And it seems that the ASW-mod 056A also has two sets of six-barreled ASW-rocket launchers as well! The position of them indicate that they have some sort of anti-torpedo role, instead of traditional ASW depth-charge.

Information on the RKR Admiral Nakhimov refit has been posted on these forums. From the posted info the planned SAM will be the S-400 missile. The current database SAM after the refit is the SA-N-20B missile which is a navalized S-300FM missile. This should be changed to the S-400 missile.

For the flanker, based on SIPRI records and jane's article plus some photos, Indonesia already have in their inventory some of KH-31P and KH-59ME. Few adjustments in the loadout would be good.

The 9M96D at 65nm would give the Gorshkov similar capability to peer warships so it seems unlikely that the Redut/Poliment system is relying on just the 9M96?

Unless there is evidence to the contrary?

For what its worth I am not convinced that the much quoted 40km range for the 9M96 is accurate either, (most of the sources do quote 40km) but there are sources indicating that its range is closer to 60km, and that would be more compatible with the length weight and diameter in comparison to western systems.

Assuming that 48N6DMK missile from state contract 31502943704 is the same as 48N6DM missile for S-400,
yes ,Nakhimov after refit can use S-400 missile

but, upgraded B-203A launcher from Nakhimov also can use not only 48N6DMK but also 48N6K (48N6) and 5V55RM missiles

I see that you added the Block 1A version of the SM-6 missile however you kept the range at 130 nm which according to all reports is about half the estimated range, any chance this will be applied? I see the Kirov will be employing the naval S-400 variant which should also be a 200 NM anti-air missile. that 130 nm may be the point at which the range does not affect hit probability.

According to Jane's, Project 22350 has the following armament:

Fair, but I just don't see how a 1500lb weapon, fired from the surface, can fly 90nm... when a 1000lb weapon like the Phoenix, fired at Mach 1.5 and 30k ft will fly ca 100nm...

Please help me understand

Hmmm to be honest I'm not quite clear on why there should be two separate versions of the missile

so, can you please :
-change range of RVV-BD(R-37M) to 200km
-add new weapon ,RVV-BD(R-37M) for Mig-31BM with range 300km ,ARH seeker with range 40km ,and place this instead of RVV-BD(R-37M) in Mig-31BM loadouts
-change seeker range in RVV-BD(R-37M) to 40km
-maybe add izd.810 to PAK-FA?

I've been playing around with ideas for a scenario involving the Japanese coast guard and North Korean ships engaged in espionage and/or criminal activities like dumping toxic waste. I've tried to dig up some information for a few representative classes in the Japanese coast guard.

The Shiretoko is one of those "backbone" classes; it has been active since the late seventies, chugging along, loyal but not flashy, guarding the coasts and EEZ, with a total of 22 ships in the class, probably one of the most commonly seen vessels in the JCG. So, here is the data (there are actually three sub-classes with slightly different weapons), and I hope they can be included in the DB someday. The class does not appear to have any aircraft facilities. Thanks!

A late response due to the inconvenience of having to go to work!

Ref wether RuAF SU-27SM2 and SU-30SM SU-30M2 can use the R-77/R-77-1.(AA-12 etc)

Short answer is YES they are capable of using it....BUT...they don't...as per Triode....pilots not trained, weapon not in inventory etc

Why are they capable:
Radar/Software
All three Sukhoi models have the radar upgrades have with the necessary software and data link to use the R-77/R-77-1.
Su-30SM uses the more advanced Bars R radar NO-11M.
Su-30M2 and SU-27SM2 use what is in essence an upgraded Myech the N001V. (Probably why the SU-30M2 is used for training the SU-27M2 pilots)

armed with the R-77-1 to reflect a future in service capability when sufficient numbers of the weapon have been delivered, pilots trained etc?

I decided to use the information in Janes, as that seems more authoritative, but I thought I should provide the link just in case.

DB 442 currently only has the SA-N-21C (9M96) avilable. The SA-N-21D (9M96D) has a significantly longer range at 65 miles.The database also doesn't have the SS-N-29 launcher, but seeing as I can't confirm it on every ship, it's probably not a big issue.

So I thought those claims were extraordinary as well...but the appear to be the "standard" unclass figures for range on the SM-2/6 (Janes, FAS, etc. all repeat the same numbers). The similarly-weighted Patriot (PAC-1, at least) has a listed max intercept of 86 NM, where I checked. The only document I could find repeating an intercept range of 50 NM for the SM-2 (what's in the database now) was this document talking about area air defense for the Canadian Navy. However, that document also repeats the 200 NM range on the SM-6. I guess the USN really is OP, at least based on public information.
