I have not been playing ToS for a while so pardon my rather long absence. It's one of those great games you just don't have time for sometimes, but always fun to come back and play. Anyways, on with some titan designs: <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> I hired a jock named Bob that was quite a bad shot with everything but energy weapons and was specialized in light titan piloting skill and damage control, happened to be my mechanic (a former civilian titan engineer at a salvage yard, operated and worked on cutting laser titans). As soon as he made it past rookie level I designed a light titan for him, initially it was called the SZL Nova and only had a BRG plus the two pulse lasers, continuous laser fire along with the BRG accumulate heat quickly so I decided on adding machine guns for some faster and less heat dependent damage output if overheating occurs, threats will likely be in machine gun range by the time significant heat accumulates. I toyed with idea of a Plasma cannon instead, but went with the BRG in favor of having no minimum range and less heat, I neglected the heat resistant armor in the legs because of armor and weight concerns. The design has a decent powerplant and heat regulator, as well as a number of standard defensive features including a light shield. The titans cockpit and torso are integrated, head and central torso armor are exceptional for a light titan, as well the back torso. A good design for an energy weapon jock, but not as devastating as I hoped. Medic <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> This heavily armored light titan acts like a medium, has a good array of diverse weaponry scattered across its chassis and the targeting equipment to use it well. All ammunition based weapons are located in the arms with laser weapons on the torso, the flamethrower may potentially damage the titans power axe if the titan RA is heavily damaged, use its ammo as quickly as possible if under heavy fire and when in range. The armor all around is very good, any particular section of it will withstand the rigors of a firefight including the arms, legs, and lower torso. The back torso is slightly less armored than the Nova, but still good. Long range titans will piece it up a little, but once in full attack range it is hard to deal with. It does have a little medium range punch from the heavy meson gun, a good hit to the head of an enemy titan will get noticed and may disrupt an enemies ability to fight anywhere it penetrates. This titan was designed to be a light tank and lives up to its role nicely, in the right hands it can roll right through several enemy titans quickly. Close in attacking with meson gun as good opportunities arise, blast away until a weakness in the enemies armor appears then hack it off. Titans that fall down in front of this beast can quickly lose their head, good titan pilots should consider ramming if you have time to get a good scan, if it falls down be sure to administer head trauma. The SZL Enforcer doesn't have any extensive defense systems, the best defense is a good offense. Medic <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> This is actually a less armored version of the SZL Enforcer geared more for accurate medium range combat and higher mobility, while still retaining a little of the CC punch for an "active" defense from CC titans. It keeps the heavy meson gun, but loses the flamethrower in place of an AC4. Engine, heat reduction, and energy weapon systems were downgraded in favor of jump jets and a top of the line battle computer, scanner is also slightly better. Ideally, this titan should follow closely behind the SZL Enforcer and provide support fire, it doesn't perform as well on its own. This titan should be able to fight for a while, but its offensive power will be significantly reduced once it runs out of ammo. It doesn't have as much punch and attempts to make up for that with accuracy, paired up with an Enforcer I tried to make a good head busting team. Beware of significant hits to the arms.
