That's almost intact. Except from the repair shipyard, but you'll repair that I suppose. Still a really good feeling, finally :)

I bombed that repair shipyard a long time ago to stifle IJN repairs. They repaired it up to that level.

It looks so very nice!

As long as it will not activate the Home Island reinforcements, are your Okinawan are resources going to take some or all of the islands off Kyushu for fighter bases if they are weakly held? That could put a lot of pressure on the HI area Japanese air units. With the capture of Hokkaido, there won't be too many places for I & I for the Home island air units.

Thanks!

It will be a few days before the next turn as 'an even higher HQ' has absconded with DAW (for strategic consultations, I'm sure).

As far as the islands close to Kyushu, any island close to one of the Japanese main islands has air that is heavily polluted with large bits of hostile metal. Even places lightly held on the ground require a major commitment and entail significant risk to air and sea assets. My plans always adapt to the situation but at the moment those particular plans are the same as last reviewed here: Hokkaido is the next major amphibious operation. As I recall without looking that will be roughly the middle of February.

Notice that in China the operation to reduce Canton and Hong Kong is going well and without unforeseen delays. Yet the operation on the flank - to secure the flank of the main spearhead and apply pressure to fix and impede enemy forces - is exceeding expectations. Indeed, it's encountering or causing that rapid collapse which Roger Neilson predicted. So we are pushing farther in opportune directions and ways different from the plan before the operation started.

But in this area, Hokkaido is next. it requires a great deal of resources be ready, which means coordinating them in time to cover the distances involved. The APA used for Formosa and Luzon will be called back, etc.

Great progress. I am somewhat surprised to see Pescadores fall so quickly - I thought he would invest heavily in denying you the shipyard. I guess there is just too much to defend in the area and not enough troops/supply to make it happen.

Are you operating any air campaign in the central Philippines yet?

Have been for a looong time! Keeping everything as far north as Clark shut down. No air assets north of there as far as I know, either. Now more focus on ground strikes to support the assaults.

Pescadores couldn't be defended for long. I think it's clear terrain too. Vulnerable to naval bombardment, isolated. Just impossible, so he put enough there to keep it form being taken on the cheap and, I assume, to keep it operating as long as he had it. I'm pretty sure that destroyers were being repaired there until recently.

Happy 1945!

May it be the year of peace at last, so that your brave pixelated troups can return to their pixelated homes (many of which are in that grey area commenly called "off map").

Do feel a sense of melancholy, knowing that after years of this great ride you are nearing the end?

Canton is just about to fall! Our troops will rest for one day because immediately after the capture they will be required to catch the (then) ex-defenders in the open hex to the SE before refuge is gained in Hong Kong, which they will also be required to assault promptly. The Imperials NW of Kukong left a rear guard behind when they retreated, so that will be dealt with tomorrow. The Lushai Bde cleared the road to Nanchang despite the air strikes mentioned earlier. SE of Kukong our armor has caught the enemy unit and will attack without waiting for our infantry, lest the enemy unit again slip away without combat. Hengyang airfield is almost operational with plenty of support on site but heavy damage still being repaired. Enemy held Kweiyang and Tuyun are now completely isolated so far as the road net is concerned.

Malaya is almost cleared.

Kuantan is officially zombie-free! Singapore shows >14,000 troops on recon, another huge one day reduction. The attack will continue with a different mix of infantry divisions. Note that the weaker the enemy resistance, the higher the disruption I am tolerating among attacking units. Keeping up daily attacks (when possible for the attackers) seems to be extremely effective.
