Well, this is so many way wrong, but I have just started yet another game after almost year long absence due to health problems.

Simple HR, improved a/c database and no altitude restriction. This time I am planning to play little more passive. Scenario 28C does no allow to play very aggressive for longer period of time in my opinion.

First is already in KenchiSulla's inbox.

Game settings:
DBB:C / DaBigBabes:C scenario 28
Latest beta

Glad to see you back!

I just posted a few questions and concerns in your opponent's AAR and I will post them here to make sure you're aware of them as well. These are really about keeping good balance for a playable game that can go the distance.

-------------------------------------------------
A few questions and concerns. Is this with Symon's air mods? Mr Kane knows how to use PDU-ON to get 46 planes in 44, and with the better stats this will be virtually unmanageable for an Allied player. Any thoughts on that?

Also, no strat bombing into or from China seems too much. I get the part about none in China, but from China goes against what was entirely possible and in fact used in the war. This essentially takes an entire theatre off the map in 44-45 for the Allies, as strat bombing is the one most important goal of the late game. It also means he can stack up on the other spots where strat bombing is possible and simply leave China less well defended. I see this as a massive balance problem post-43.

As for strategic bombing in China, China's HI and manpower are fair game in my opinion. HI represents the Chinese arsenals, and Manpower is attacked as a part of the Japanese aerial terror campaign.

Thanks.

To address you concerns, firstly I I like to point that all HR are my opponents requirements I did not ask for any.
However I see possible future issue with Symon's air mode too. But I do not have idea how to solve this problem yet. So any advice will be very useful.
However China problem will be solved anyway. I am planning to keep this country for myself even in '45 so this particular HR should not affect game-play at all :D

BTW: turn 1 is resolved, I have forgotten about one game issue(thread tolerance settings for all my TF) as result it is the very worst game opening I have ever done. :(

Interesting. I would guess you will keep it into 45, (which is great for Japan) as if there is no strat bombing, there is less reason to invade there.

I have a similar no strat bombing into China HR in my current game, and again that was asked for by the first opponent in that game. I see how it can help the Allies a bit earlier, but once the Japanese take it all, it's a good supplement to the economy assuming the industry survives through the conquest.

With this air RnD plan Symon's mods shouldn't affect things too much. Looks like you're focused on the economy and streamlining production, not spending too much on RnD that could be used to produce fighters themselves and have supply stores to go late into the game. I like it.

Sucks. Turn 2 is just as important though, so I'm sure you'll reach your goals quickly.

You certainly wiped out a lot of subs on turn 1.

That is one very lucky AK. Interesting that you don't seem to have any cruisers or Kongo-class escorting your carriers.

Your plan is to rely on 2nd Gen fighters except for Frank. Not seen this intentionally done before. Taking notes as it progresses.

In my opinion With symon A/C mod 2nd gen should be enough to fight allies. all 3rd gen aircrafts are SR 3 or 5. It will be very hard to keep flaying those beast at the end. Additionally J7W, Karyu are very short range with bad climb rate, so are useless for offensive and defensive actions. Ki-83 it very nice but expensive 2 - engines :(, K-94 very nice, too but hard to obtain due late introduction date.

The Ki-100 is much better, the Georges are a lot better, and the Jacks (which I would also build, but I understand you're being lean).

A7M is better, turning into a great LBA plane too.

The Frank is not much better than stock IIRC.

Jack is using engine Ha-32, usually I am always short on this one and priority are bombers and patrol boats: Frances, Betty, Emily, Norm, Jill. Additionally Gorge has advantage at every parameter except max celling.

A7M looks cool, however seems to me that more wise will be continue production of N1K and adding extra A7M than just drop production of first one and build a completely new huge A7M's factories Sam's, not mention of need different engine.

Don't really understand your comment on the Ha32 engine. You can start building them from day 1...so you can in effect stockpile lots before the Jack even arrives, and they are both single engine so you need the engine production no matter what. Also easier to get the final Jacks than the final George.

But Jack is not a great offensive plane where the George really does well.

But you know what you are doing, and I think you really have deep insight into the planes here.

I am curious to see what the KB is up to. I have my guesses, a pity you ran across an xakl.

December 9th & 10th, 1942

Air loses:
Allied today 38, total 112
Empire: today 17, total 62

Ships sunk:
Allied - 2 xAK, 17 xAKL,2 xAP, 1 SS, 1 DM, 7 small ships.
Empire - 2 xAKL

Great Hunt - well it seems I have sunk all I could, now most of my warships are heading back to rearm.

Malaya:

Kota Bharu fall at 9th Dec. Mersing landing started unopposed at morning of 10th. Akagi and Kaga are providing air cover, it 36 Zeros it is definitely not enough in case strong attack from Singapore. However most of troops are already on the ground and Mersing should fall tomorrow.

Kota Bharu AF should be ready to operate fighters tomorrow either.

15th Army is ready in Bangkok and waiting for ships to be loaded and sail for Java.

Philippines:

48th Division has landed unopposed at Vigan. Landing air cover is was delivered by Ryujo & Zuhio.
88 A6M2 swept sky over Manila toady. Zeros meet 59 P-40E !!! and 6 x P26A. This battle did not goes well for my opponent. Tracker shows 28 P-40 and 6 P26 down for 3 Zeros and one IJN pilot.

Landing at Jolo has started at 9th.

DEI:

Strong has been captured and 6 Jake float planes will start patrols tomorrow.
Landing at Mando has started at 9th. 21 Air flotilla is aready half way to base. It look that 27 G4M2 will be ready to operate from this airfield before 12th or 13th Dec. This should close waters of southern DEI for allied fleet.

Pacific:

I have forgot about one TF and as result it sailed to Kavening and got trashed by Australian cruisers.

My forces CAPTURE Ocean Island and Nauru Island !!! at 9th. It seems that allied carriers are heading to PH and there will not be any real resistance in this theatre.

Air loses:
Allied today 26, total 138
Empire: today 8, total 70

Ships sunk:
Allied - 1 xAK, 2 xAKL, 2 TK, 3 SS, 2 AS, 2 small ships.
Empire - 1 xAKL, 1 xAK

Surface action:
CL Niagara and 2 DD are still hunting around Jolo. They sunk 2 AS last night.
CA Nachi and DD Hatsukaze managed to sunk allied TK on they way home near Sangi.

Sub actions:
I-153 sunk allied xAK (near Toboali)
I-155 sunk allied TK (near Toboali)
I-154 sunk onather allied xAKL (near Toboali)

Malaya:

Mersing has fallen in first attack. 2 regiments and one recon unit are moving towards Singapore to cut it from rest of allied units in Malaya.

TFs at Mersing were attacked by two British torpedo bombers squadrons under LRCAP cover of 50 Buffalo I fighters. 16 Zeros providing cover did not manage to stop all bombers and they installed one torpedo into belly of LSD and one into xAK, both ships suffer only mirror damage and are not in danger of sinking. IJN fighters however manage to shoot down 15 Buffalo I, 4 Vildebeest III, 3 Hudson I and 2 Swordfis I for cost of 5 A6M2 and 3 pilots. PO1 Ibusuki E. scored 5 kills today and become first Ace in this war. Unfortunately his plane was damaged by rear gunner of Hudson bomber and later shoot down by one of remaining allied fighter over Mersing. :(

Philippines:

48th Division captured San Fernando and moving towards Lingayen. 39 Oscars from 50th Sentai moved to this AF late afternoon to provide air cover and release light carrier.

50 G4M2(Kanoya Kukotai && Tako Kukotai) escorted by 40 A6M2 (3rd Kukotai) attacked Manila port again.
Results are not fantastic but sill 2 more SS sunk a few others got damaged again. It seems that Manila port is still full of ships and subs and it will require more attention in near future.

Reconnaissance flight are showing lack of allied planes on Philippines airfields. Does this mean end of resistance or beginning of cat and mouse game ? I hope it is the 1st one, I need zeros to support offensive against Java as soon as possible.

China:

Fist attack on Hongkong went well and there is hope to capture city very next day.
100% of Chinese units are running towards woods and mountains. My units are not fast enough to keep distance most already lost contact with enemy.

DEI:

Kudat and Jolo has fallen. Manadao attack has fail, I will repeat it again tomorrow, additionally I have send there another Battalion just in case, I really need this AF.

Pacific:

Wake Island has been capured today without resistance form allied fleet. I was afraid that my opponent may send there his carriers.

Landing at Guam has started and island will fall tomorrow.
