Hi,

Having never been very happy with the vanilla ship symbols, I've made myself some new ones today

I ended up making only symbols for military, construction and exploration ships. They came out too tiny for private sector ships and the ones I tried for stations totally vanished when a lot of ships were docked.

Certainly not everybody's cup of tea, but I kinda like 'em. Maybe some of you will too

Hi guys!

I made the shield effect so long ago I almost forgot it wasn't the vanilla one!
The weapon effects I pieced together over the years. I don't remember the names of all the mods I got them from, my apologies. The beams (9 to 14) and the torpedos are my own, though.
The tractor beam strike effect is just a recolored version of the whirly bits inside a black hole. I think it works quite nicely.

I like these, but I wouldn't use 'em unless they're used in Galaxy view... It would be nice if you can make these recognizable zoomed out. See these in Galaxy view and while zooming in they'd switch to the Vanilla symbols, that would be nice...

hambango, your weapons and shield effects are stunning, maybe u consider renaming the topic and posting them in the op.

GropHana: i think what u want is possible and its a nice idea, could work well.
personally i have removed the zoomed in ship symbols for combat ships a long time ago, they are not needed at all imo.
Now to use these sysmbols for galaxy ships could look pretty good, i gonna test it

yeah the weapon graphics look really nice, should definitely edit your thread title to smth like "new shyp symbols & weapon effects" :).

Those are great, I combine them with Sea of Stars Ship Symbols and No annoying ship symbols mod.

That way only Exploration, Military and Construction ships have the improved symbols, all other ships no symbol at all.
