So, playing as the Soviets in the Stalingrad to Berlin, I've built a tad to many airbases. I need all the trucks I can get WITH OUT decreasing the Army (I might have to do this anyway)

so many airbases, but even with over 10K planes I will not use then!. the Long range airbases, I using 3 of these at the moment. with the other 8 airbases just standing the behind tula. I have not intention of using more lang range bombers, (IL-2 FTW!) but I can't even disband any airbase what so ever!?

Each airbase demands 355 trucks, I know I can just put then in rail Lines and put their TOE at 50& but they still hold on to the VERY precious trucks!

Is there anything I can do about it?

I am in the same situation. Is there any downside to stacking airbases with 9 air units as long as support required stays less than 250?

No. Previously it was not possible, since AV need was very high for some types of aircraft (and too low for some). Airbase limits were probably designed with old support need in mind, and were introduced to prevent "optimizing" the air force too much (where some went as far as disbanding every airbase and scrapping their entire air force).

10k planes as the Soviets seem to me a bit too low. 15k would be better IMHO. As for the rest of unused airbases - just like you said - put them on lowest TOE possible, on rail, and empty.
