Japan picks up another 150 points from strategic bombing; and the paratroopers up north are still holding while other airborne attacks & landings are planned for the morrow.

A big day coming up.

One big boneheaded move mars an otherwise great day!

But, I won't let it get me down, or alter my plan...we are pushing thru and sticking to the plan. There is but one focus at HQ!

I just wanted to point out that Japan has not lost a ship, or even have one damaged yet because of the invasion. One Iboat has 13 system and 37 flooding damage, but that is all that I spot. Our carrier planes stand ready, and soon they will be joined by 10 land based Sentai's. Camp Pendleton has a size 6 air base, while Port Hueneme sports a size 8 and perhaps both can be taken very shortly.

Only one battleship and one heavy cruiser did surface bombardments so the ammo lockers are full to bursting. Only 1 Val squadron attacked, twice, so carrier sorties are strong.

In very good shape overall, what do you guys think?

PS: 18 Allied units in LA in heavy urban terrain...I doubt I can take the city, especially with my boneheaded accidental landings today, but I will certainly be fighting there. SL is 160,000. Although I don't yet know with certainty what is there, I think San Diego is doomed.

PS: Don't worry you AFBs'! I am sure to lose plenty in the upcoming weeks...

Happy birthday, US Army.

I will take my time today on the turn, and hopefully avoid stupid mistakes. I feel like a noob, well, this game does do that to you.

In other news, prayers and thoughts appreciated today, as my son is fighting for 3rd place at his Army's base in front of all the top brass. A cage match no less, with shorts and very thin fingerless gloves.

Pretty much no rules, no ankle leglocks but other than that punches, kicks, whatever, win by submission pretty much. He had a very disappointing loss yesterday early in the tourney when the rules where still basic Army personal combatives and had not advanced to Pankration or MMA.

So I will be majorly distracted again today, but for now I am going to let the game sit and ponder it for awhile, rather than injuries. Fair enough?

Good luck to your son today.. I read both AAR's so I can't comment on the game, except to say it is surely fascinating watching this invasion unfold.

You landed on San Clemente Island which is, ironically, the USN gunnery range for the West Coast. There may be a few goats to eat and some yellowtail offshore. Santa Barbara is pretty nice though.

Turn is off to Jocke, and he will be gleeful at my very stupid mistake at San Clemente. What can I say, all those San's seem alike to Imperial Japanese HQ!

We are off and moving...should be an interesting turn.

The action starts with marauding PT boat squadron. Several encounters don't happen before the PT boats blunder into this convoy carrying AA guns and Artillery just outside of Santa Ana.

Three more fights ensue, and we have one collision and the xak that is torpedoed here is run into by her lonesome and sunk.

Japan loses one xak, and 17 vehicles.

Ship losses for the day...

Japanese naval search is up, and I was really worried about a behind the LOC attack at incoming ships which didn't materialize.

All but the TF that encountered the PT boats unloaded copious amounts of troops and supplies at Santa Ana; including two fresh infantry divisions.

Allied planes swept Santa Ana and then bombed the runways there, doing only 17%. My low CAP under performed today (I thought it might) most likely because the lack of radar warning...not enough sets at Santa Ana. That should be rectified tonight.

The only encounter with American subs was by an APD, the sub missed...

Air losses weren't great...I left the Jakes on very low CAP and they got really chewed up.

The Zekes were all set from 10K and below and didn't do all that well either.

The 4E bombers came last and inflicted 17% on the runways. AA should take a huge improvement as it unloads at Santa Ana today.

The Jake squadrons took replacements and are back to full strength.

SitRep:

Allies are using LA as an airbase. I have already detected the mines, but there are at least four small fleets there. No mines detected yet at San Diego.

Plenty of supply has offloaded at Santa Ana...and of the first wave, 40 ships have empty cargo holds. Very good so far.

I need Pendleton at its large airbase, but I also need to land all the follow up troops and establish my defensive position at LA, threaten March Field, Mojave, Las Vegas and Bakersfield.

The IJN will attempt to suppress LA as an operating airfield today, probe San Diego for mines, shield the incoming ships, and hopefully destroy more Allied PT boats.

My son survived his first cage match, lost, but is unhurt.

He finished 4th place not bad considering he had 2 days warning of the tourney, and hasn't competed in Judo for over a year...field exercises, Ranger School, JRTC all taking their toll on him. A great first try...I believe he had the 2nd best finish for his brigade.

I thought of doing mixed martial arts once. Then I woke up. I had forgotten to take my acid blocker.

Congratulations to your son Lowpe. I hope they do weight classes or something and not just mix all comers together. Seems kind of dangerous.

Unloading continues at a furious pace at Santa Ana...

1st Armored and friends arrive at Camp Pendleton, they face two units in defense...Pendleton has a size 6 runway. Very important, but no port.

LA bombarded by 4 Battleships and several Cruisers...they rearm at Santa Ana. No mines hit, and several mines cleared by destroyers. No naval engagements despite a horde of IJH surface fleets in the area. All planes removed from LA. 18 units still there.

In the air we both lose a dozen fighters over the skies of Santa Ana. Army fighters one day out, and the A6M5 will be able to take a break. This will be the baptism of the Tojo IIb.

2300 AV landed at Santa Ana, 400 at Camp Pendleton, 400 at Santa Barbara. More on the way.

I am guessing most of these TFs' are subs. No sub attack this turn.

Paratroops at Fresno get rejected...but Butte were okay.

Lost 9 Emilies at Fresno too.

The northern invasion is only detected with 1 DL...they are assembled and will hover for a day, before heading in...

This is a poster child in the call for stacking limits.

I never play without them now.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

My son is a black belt in Judo, nationally ranked, or was last year since he hasn't competed this year. He has finished above our Olympian at his weight class at tourneys, but can't put his career on hold to go to the Olympics.

He has very limited experience with MMA & none with Pankration, but he does work out with in a MMA club with a couple of professional MMA guys & gals plus special forces guys.

Given his showing, I think he will be volunteered to fight more in the future. Proud, yes, but also scared...seen so many horrendous injuries at Judo tourneys over the years. This is probably worse.

We have stacking limits...it is not hurting yet since I am under, & my troops are marching out. Not to mention some troops avoid stacking limits since they have few actual troops. Would be a lot worse if I hadn't landed on goat island by mistake.
