ORIGINAL: Centuur Agreed. And I don't think Mao made a mistake here. The Axis just lost a unit. The Chicomm only temporarily lost their INF. In this stage of the game, I would be prepared to go for a 1 on 1 loss ratio with the Chinese. The reason is simple: the Japanese can't replace lost units fast enough to China, because they are getting hammered upon in a lot of places... quote:
ORIGINAL: Cohen For Germany it's quite mandatory to attack the Allies where they've the 2 bulges in the mountains. Germany wants to shorten their frontline to free units (for 1 hex pratically they are to "cover" 4 different hexes). That's a major objective for them to free up assets needed elsewhere on the front. In Russia they need to start to fall back in good order now that they can - to a shorter defensive line; and as suggested above, by doing that they do not need anymore a "straight" line but can defend via ZoC til they get to the new defensive line. To stay that forward neats them 2 resources (Assuming they fall back around the Denpr line) which they'd lose, a measly cost in comparison to the units that they'd lose. And if Germany fails to fall back, they'll lack the units to defend a line at the Vistula or so later on. It's German time to trade space for time. I do not suggest you play by "Hitler's command", have you played with Stalin's stand fast orders? Probably not. But besides that, meanwhile it can have its Roleplaying influence and fun, it does not "train" you to play the game as it should be played. Which means once you get against a player which plays the game in a regular form (not talking of gamey-forms allowed by rules) you get rather steamrolled. Also bear in mind this game - by how it's tailored - brings you nowhere by defending only. Germany is still in a place where they can do attacks (remember to bring always the appropriate sacrificial lambs, divisions or MILs) and they should take shot of opportunity when the enemy offers that. Also, more fighters for Germany. Especially as they can deploy and kick into action in Vienna and Munich. There are also some excellent FTR2 which can act as bombers, still costing 2. (Or Stukas eventually) And they can return to base after missions elsewhere. You should not send more planes (safe dire needs) to East Front for now. Thanks guys! Great advice as always! I will do my best to follow.
