Hey guys,

I've been playing this scenario I made for awhile. It's exactly the type I like, large and brutal with massive amounts of amraams flying around. Please note, you need a beefy machine to run this scenario. I'm using an Intel 6 core processor @ 4.3Ghz, 16gig ram, SSD, etc. It still runs slow in certain situations. Please let me know what you think!

UPDATED: Added INI and changed ROE

UPDATED: Ungrouped items, gave 'merica more firepower, changed around some surprises, please set loadout to unlimited.

UPDATE: MASSIVE UPDATE! LOT'S of new events, targets, challenges, and general terrifying situations.

Note: If you have an "AA Bastion" fleet group on your side, re download. Thank you!

I'm playing it now. So far it's exciting. It's obviously designed to be somewhat of a "turkey shoot"
in the beginning based upon the number of early generation jets and the number of AA launch platforms for the US.
I have survived the initial onslaught and I'm in the early stages of striking back with RAM's and JDAMs before I
bring in the B-2s. I tried to sneak in 4 and they were detected and shot down by fighters. It's going to be tough
to knock down the SAMs and bring in the remaining B-2s.

Considering the size, my machine handled it pretty well. Moved along fine in 1x and up to 5x even in the bigger
engagements.

Are the "carrier killers" in there? Wait don't tell me. I hope I get a nasty surprise.

Mike

Nice scenario but I already see a mayor snafu, ungroup the radars so they can be seen in group view, switching between views to see them is unnecessary and annoying. I am also running out of AMRAAM's, even with a hit ratio of 1 out of 2, I am short several hundred. You could add these easily to the improvised airbase so these planes can do more then a single mission.

Thank's for the feedback. I ungrouped some things, I also evened the odds a bit. I have the scenario set to "unlimited" for ammunition, I thought that would carry over to you guys. You definitely need unlimited ammo, there are hundreds of targets. Just assume there are supply ships in tow.

Hey,

I'm also working on it but with my two mule powered computer I'm making slow going.

I'm glad to hear it's supposed to be unlimited ammo. I started to run low on AA missiles within two and a half hours of game time. I'm going to restart unlimited.

Thanks.

You do not need to restart to switch to unlimited. Load the savegame into scenario editor, switch realism, save back, then use regular load function to continue.

I have played this scenario now for 24 hours and the Chinese AF is decimated (they have about 100? AC left) and I am now picking off ground targets with stand of weapons. The scenario is very interesting from an aerial combat point of view, but at this point it has gotten extremely boring. This scenario needs some clear victory conditions to work through, just saying "destroy everything" and provide 300 radar sets for targets gets boring real quickly.

My advice is to shorten the scenario by 24 hours and provide some high value targets (well defended HQ's, airfields etz.) that will need to be destroyed as a victory condition during this time frame. Also give the Chinese some anti ship ballistic missiles to make the threat to your carriers a bit more challenging.

This is already a very good scenario, but it needs some tweaks to keep it interesting after 24 hours.

W.

I have to agree with WildWillie2. Unfortunately, when I changed to unlimited ammo, it just became a repeated series of air slaughter.

I think it is a great scenario, but I would make a few changes as WW suggests.

Thanks for the replies!

At 8am the Chinese launch a large carrier killing strike, with hundreds of anti ship missiles. Have you folks destroyed the airfields before then? If so, I'll devise another plan to better defend the airfields and change some victory conditions.

Thanks!

I have played through around the first 2 days so far. Every chinese aircraft is destroyed I think (except the AWACS) and now I'm just using LSRAM and JASSM from every platform that can carry them to destroy the hordes of Sa-15s, because they don't get detected for some reason, while tomahawks and SLAMs do. It has gotten incredibly boring just waiting for the next wave of aircraft to be ready, take them off, and salvo all the missiles at targets. After all the aircraft were destroyed I sent in 2 B-2s to nuke the airbases to help unit count, I found that nuking the SAMs didnt work because they either shot down the nuke, or the explosion would only take out 1 SAM. The carrier strike was interesing, it caught me without a cap and the J-11s managed to down 5 of my Hawkeyes in the landing pattern! However, they just charged my fleet and my SAMs shot them all down. When I went into the editor a bit later, I found that over 100 chinese AC part of that final strike mission didnt launch because they were not designated as escorts for the strike. I didn't lose a ship to the strike, most likely because I grouped everything into one gigantic CVBG at scenario start. The air battles were entertaining, however I was more worried about running out of planes that are ready to take off than I was about the planes actually being shot down. I'm going to jump back in and finish off all the targets I can, then I will post my losses and expenditures.

Yep, It gets boring after shooting down the Chinese AC ;)

There where 2 big strikes on my Cv's, one by 60-80 badgers (all killed without launching a single missile) and the strike by the SU-27 clones (these killed 10 Hornets and fired about 15 ASM, which where all intercepted, before being shot down).

And yes, the escort settings for the last 100 fighters was off, so these never launched.

Thanks for the feedback!

I spent hours last night and this morning making really cool "events", targets, etc for to better spend your time with. Please re download and play! It's very different and interesting.

I used scenedit to adjust initial loadouts in favor of SEAD (Hornets with AARGMs), and then fired everything I had in a way of TLAMs, nuclear ALCMs, and JASSM-ERs in general direction of due west, targetting airbases which are there. At the same time, I sent my SEAD package (well, like 60 aircraft maybe) same due west. This took care of most of SAMs in the way, and also AMRAAMs made a dent in enemy air force. When SEAD package ran out of missiles, they did RTB and then cruise missiles came in. This did significantly damage enemy airbases and after that, everything else was easy.

Ok, just finished the latest version and you just HAD to play Godzilla didn't you ;) B.t.w destroying Tokyo is a bit silly because there is nothing you can do to prevent this so its a non event.
But this version actually was much better then the first one, although I literally destroyed every target on the map with 7 hours to spare.
I would add some clouds to this scenario as to make stealth AC less detectable by optics and would also put in a sub and ballistic missile threat against the carriers.

Almost there.

Thanks for the response, I'll have a finished version shortly. I'm also creating a second scenario which I'll be posting for testing tonight.
