I don't know what I can do, then. I haven't seen anyone else report this error so it might be a problem on your end... we'll wait for the Devs to notice that error log.
The log did mention subunits, so it could be due to a mess-up in the subunit models.

Try my Common folder. As always, back up your own:

http://puu.sh/m3PC6/352c93d731.zip

A lot of the subunits are custom models, I downloaded them from somewhere, but I don't remember where or who made them.

EDIT:
Your error log mentioned that the current version is 2.0.10. The actual current version is 2.0.10b, I think you might need to install the new update: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3978945

Thanks but I have installed the 2.0.10b update and running it again it says that I'm up to date.

I'm running a completely vanilla install. I think you must have some other files for the Campaign that aren't in the zip file?

Nope, same error but I see you've added the DefaultSubunit.bmp to the EGerman folder.

So I've done some digging.

I noticed only the EGerman-USER.xls was in your zip file so I copied it and renamed it EGerman.xls.

I tried loading up the Scenario Editor and loading each of your 4 EG Scenarios: they all crash the same.
The error they report is a bit more detailed:
Could not find supporting data for "". The xls file containing it may be missing or modified without authorization. The Forces page for this side is disabled.

So I created a Scenario from scratch using the EGerman User you've supplied and they appear on the map.

So that's a bit of progress.

So I'm thinking you've either got some map markers you've used, eg mines, bridges etc, or unit flags for units that aren't in the zip, or the scenario needs a locked EGerman.xls file, which isn't in the zip file?

Hope this helps,

B

Yeah, nothing's new with this while I've received no feedback. I'm also testing the 2.0.11.1 beta which features rather different gameplay from 2.0.10.

Coming back to this after quite some time, but I've decided that I will revamp this entire campaign sometime in the future. Once more advanced editing tools become available towards the release of Southern Storm, I will probably re-do the maps as well as the campaign proper.

Until then, I feel it fruitless to keep half this campaign locked away from the players just because I cannot keep it in the campaign format without sacrificing. My holidays are coming up, so one should expect that I will, within a week or two, break up the campaign into it's original 5 component scenarios and balanced accordingly.

The scenarios will be re-written for 2.0.11 and heavily re-balanced: looking back at the campaign I am noting that I put too much emphasis on story telling, and the gameplay suffered as a result; mostly in the form of the scenarios simply being too easy. They will be adjusted to give the player a much harder challenge, both by design and the gameplay improvements brought upon by 2.0.11.

Until then...

Hey Stimpak,

Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed playing your campaign! As for the storytelling..... it gave the whole endeavour context, which in a hypothetical situation is a GOOD thing. Thanks for your efforts and I look forward to your next "batch".

Rob.

A little project I've been working on:

Yep, it's a complete overhaul and remake of the second map in the Campaign, CEG 2 Red Storm.
The map has been rebuilt from the ground-up using QGIS and updated methods for rendering.

-Terrain elevations are no longer guesswork, but instead are supported by terrain data
-Liberties have been taken with the road network for gameplay purposes
-The map has been shifted roughly 2-3km south, including more open terrain
-And more!

A British scenario is in the works for this map along with a first-of-it's-kind "gamemode".

Enjoy!

And, as a recent owner of FPG, I've decided to take a few scenarios that use East German units, and I've replaced them with scenarios that use... well, East German units.
Here is the Soviet Alamo for now. Your equipment is worse, but your troops are of slightly higher quality, so expect an even tougher fight. Good luck!

FPG_WGIII2_The Soviet Alamo_EGL is attached. East German faction required.

Big update to East German faction.

Some changes off the top of my head:
-Fixed some unit icons (T-72Ms now look like T-72Ms and not "T-72BV" with ERA the East Germans didn't have)
-Fixed some formation errors
-MFRW RM-70 now correctly has an extra 40 rockets, instead of an extra 40 launchers over the BM-21.
-S-8KOM and S-8OFP2 (HEAT and HE-Frag versions respectively) named accordingly
-The LuftStreitKräfte has been completely reformatted:
quote:

-Dates corrected
-MiG-17F and MiG-17PF introduced but are only available until 1983.
-MiG-21 loadouts adjusted: MiG-21MF with 96x S-5K, MiG-21MF with 4x S-24B, MiG-21F with 64x S-5K, MiG-21M with 32x S-5K and 2x AS-7 Kerry, MiG-21PFM with 2x 250kg bombs, MiG-21PFM with 2x PB-250 retarded bombs, MiG-21PFM with 2x S-24, MiG-21SPS/K with Gsh-23L, 2x AS-7 Kerry and 32x S-5K, MiG-21Bis with Gsh-23L, 2x AS-7 Kerry, and 2x 250kg bombs, MiG-21Bis with Gsh-23L, 2x AS-7 Kerry, and 2x PB-250 retarded bombs.
-Overabundance of MiG-23 variants simplified
-Four loadouts now exist for MiG-23s: MiG-23MF with 4x AS-7 Kerry, MiG-23ML with 128x S-5K, MiG-23BN with 2x AS-7 Kerry and 2x 500kg bomb, and MiG-23BN with 4x 500kg bomb
-Su-7s of all variants removed: none were present in 80's Frontal Aviation.
-Su-17s have been universally renamed Su-22.
-Su-22 (Strike) loadouts: Su-22 with 6x RBK-500 CBU, Su-22 with 288x(?) S-5K,Su-22 with 9x S-24B.
-Su-22 (SEAD) loadout: Su-22 with 4x AS-12 Kegler
-Su-22 (Level Bomber) loadouts: Su-22 with 6x 500kg bombs, Su-22 with 6x PB-250 retarded bombs, Su-22 with 6x RBK-500 Cluster Bombs
-IL-28 (Level Bomber) loadouts: IL-28 with 4x 500kg bombs, IL-28 with 8x 250kg bombs, IL-28 with 8x PB-250 retarded bombs, all IL-28 aircraft are only available until 1984.
-MiG-29 9-13s have been removed: they would have been used strictly in an air defense role. This also eliminates your only Night-Capable, All-Weather aircraft option! Good luck!

Helicopter changes:
quote:

-(Some) Dates corrected
-Introduced SC/CV Mi-9
-Introduced UH Mi-8T
-Removed UH Mi-17
-Reintroduced AH Mi-24Ds.
-Mi-24D loadouts: Mi-24D with 4x AT-2b Swatter and 64x S-5K, Mi-24D with 4x AT-2b Swatter and 40x S-8KOM, Mi-24D with AT-2b Swatter and 20x S-13OF, Mi-24D with 80x S-8OFP-2
Vanilla Helicopter Squadron removed.
Haubschraberregiment removed.

The Helicopter formations have been replaced by their real-world formations, per Relikte.
quote:

By 1990 there were two East German Attack Helicopter Squadrons, or Kampfhubschraubergeschwader, KHG-3 and KHG-5, each assigned to their respective districts (3. Armee and 5.
Armee). The template you obtain in game includes 4x Mi-9, 4x Mi-2, 24x Mi-24D, and 12x Mi-8TB.
To get KHG-3 from this template, spawn the Kampfhubschraubergeschwader, delete one flight of Mi-24D, then remove two more subunits from the remaining Mi-24D flights.
Then, add two more Mi-8TB flights and delete a single subunit from each for a total of 19x Mi-24D and 16x Mi-8TB.

In 1990, KHG-5 obtained a new Squadron, or Staffel of 12x Mi-24P. FCRS takes place in 1989, but it's reasonable to believe this sale would be pushed faster as the Soviets prepared for war in the alternate timeline.
To get KHG-5 from this template, spawn the Kampfhubschraubergeschwader, then spawn four flights of Mi-24P, subordinating three of them under the first to create the squadron.
Lastly, delete two Mi-8TB subunits.

Finally, Transporthubschraubergeschwader 34 is represented in it's entirety with 22x Mi-8T transport helicopters.

East German updated faction is included. To install, simply extract to the Data folder.

Future update already on the table. Some changes included so far are:

quote:

UNITS
-New sprites for BMP-1P; one with ATGM, one without
-Added a BMP-1P without the ATGM
-BMP-1 SP-1 has had it's HE removed and it's ATGM changed for the older version of the AT3; kicked back to 1984 expiry date.
-Added SPW-152 with 7.62mm SGMT
-Added SPW-152A with 12.7mm DShK
-Added SPW-152K Command variant of SPW-152A
-Added SPW-40 Scout car with 12.7mm DShK
-Added Fasta-4 truck carrying quad-mounted SA-7s. Classified as SPSAM-R.
-T-72s nerfed again! Turns out that the East Germans did not even get 3BM-15; most advanced ammunition is 3BM-12 APFSDS, 3OF26 HE-FRAG, and 3BK-14 HEAT. T-72 and T-72 Übergangs use 3BM-9, and T-72M/M1 use 3BM-12.
-T-55AM2D and T-55AM2D2 received +1 fire control upgrade.
-More dates correction

FORMATIONS
-In Mech Inf formations, instead of the 3rd infantry unit in a platoon being an RPG-7 AT team, it is now a normal MechInf squad that is forced to be an RPG-7 carrying variant.
-Regimental Recon companies adjusted:
Regimental Recon Company (Tank Regiments/BMP Regiments): SPW-40P2U, BRM-1K section, BMP-1 platoon (1x Sniper squad, 2x Mech squad, 1x MANPADS team), 2x SPW-40P2 sections (Scouts with options of heavy weapons including RPG-7, AT-3, AT-4)
Regimental Recon Company (BTR "SPW" Regiments): SPW-40P2U, SPW-60/70 platoon (1x Sniper squad, 2x Mech squad, 1x MANPADS team), 3x SPW-40P2 sections (Scouts with options of heavy weapons including RPG-7, AT-3, AT-4)

More changes to come...

In the meantime, I'm remaking the old CEG 2 campaign mission "Jerry's Revenge" to use the updated East German faction, much more accurate ORBATs, the new map, and finally give it an actual challenge.

CEG 2 ran into some issues and I won't be able to release the scenario this weekend. However, what I can release is the updated East German Database.

In addition to the changes mentioned in the last post,

quote:

-Reserve Regiments added
-New unit classification: TANK-RE, or Reserve tanks
-Scouts translated to Späher
-Rifles translated to Schützen
-Reserveschützen added, poorly equipped (And should be set to low veterancy in-game) infantry
-Heavily armed Pioneer infantry are added, but are not classified as Engineers since that function does not work in FCRS
-RPG-2 weapon added; only Reserveschützen are equipped with them, and later on if I "extend" the timeframe earlier
-Flamethrowers added
-ATO VFT tank flamethrower added
Which means...
-TO-55 added. Not existent in any East German formation, but the unit is there and can be found under Low-Level Units
-Bumped up some units that previously were "out of timeframe" - some still served in the mentioned reserve formations

New .zip is attached - unzip to your Data folder just like the rest and overwrite anything you already have.

CEG 1 remake is ready.

Changes:
-Map shifted about ~15KM Northeast(!) - The terrain here is:
A) More interesting
B) More mobile and open
C) More likely to be where 9. Panzerdivision and 9. Panzer Lehr Brigade will meet

-In addition, the Map uses Satellite, QGIS and OSM Data rather than guesswork, making it far more accurate.

-Lastly, visual "improvements", or at least a change in art style from the older CEG maps.

Get it here - attached to this post. As with CEG 2 this will replace the old CEG 1 completely, so back up the old file if you think it's worth keeping.

And yes, I will probably work on remaking CEG 3 and 4 later. Expect the changes to CEG 3 to be just as, if not more radical than CEG 1, since 3 was my least favorite of the original maps.

Next East German update will release alongside the CEG 2 Scenario, a stream of said scenario, and the 2.0.13 update (So hopefully soon).

Until then, changes...

quote:

-Default unit background changed back to matte gray so it doesn't look strange to players who didn't install custom backgrounds for other factions
-Basic morale is back down to 65 from 90. Although the national values are meant to reflect West Germany's, the truth is that the East German people (and Warsaw Pact as a whole) were getting tired of their Soviet masters by 1989
-Coloured custom sprites have been changed to black (But the coloured versions are still there) for players who don't have custom silhouettes

Formation changes
-SPz BMP Companies now only have 1 AA platoon as opposed to three
-EGC4, EGD4, EGE5, all redundant MSK/PzKs, have been removed.
-An extra EGE3, a Motorisierte-Schützen Kompanie, has been added to the Panzerregiment (Panzerdivision), which they had for some reason.

Unit changes
-Finally removed the Strela-3 (SA-14) that the East Germans never had.
-Unlocked the Strela-2M (SA-7) which, as it turns out, was buried by a bug in the code all this time.
-Added new loadouts for Su-22:
Su-22 with -4x KH-25ML
Su-22 with -2X KH-29T
Su-22 with -2x FAB-500 and ~80 S-8OFP2
-Changed loadout of one KHS Mi-24P, renamed DHS Mi-24P
-Version with gunpods now instead has 4x AT-9 Spiral-2 and 4x...

Weapon changes
-R-60M Short range Air-to-Air missile has been added. Fixed wing aircraft also carried these, but they're left out so long as fixed wing from other factions do not have SRAAMs. Keep in mind that only a single flight of KHG-5 was equipped this way, so unless you write-in otherwise, only 3 Mi-24Ps can ever have this loadout by outset of the war.
-Corrected a leftover: Accuracy of ATGMs and SAMs are nerfed back in line with Soviet weapons. No more magic East-German engineering!
-Older version of Malyutka (AT-3 Sagger) brought out of it's unauthentic 1985 retirement.

As promised, here's the Updated East Germans, updated .fp9 for CEG 1, and finally the scenario CEG 1 Shoot Back for you to enjoy.

Here's the scenario changes from the version you saw on the stream or if you missed it, the recorded walkthrough on my YouTube channel:

quote:

-Corrected some spelling mistakes in the briefing

VP allocations have changed:
-Removed the 2500 point marker in Faßberg, and the 3500 pt marker at the control tower has been reduced to 2500
-Points along the B71 have been beefed up to make up for this
-A new VP is in Wichtenbeck, making that town an objective.
-Suderberg is now worth 1000 pts instead of 700.
-The player now has two 500pt VPs under his control at the start, one in the rail station at Ebstorf, and another in Bödenstedt

Changes to the Lehr:
-Force in Faßberg has been significantly reduced.
-Force in Dreilingen moved to put it back within BHQ range
-New force added somewhere... you'll have to find it yourself

Changes to 9. Panzerdivision
-PzR-23 was removed, this should make achieving a tactical, and even decisive success somewhat easier but also lowers the threshold for your Sudden Death trigger

Some changes that didn't make it, will upload later
-The East German aircraft have received additional... training.
-PzR-21's MSB has had it's mortars replaced by self-propelled versions
-Lehr's Artillery positions adjusted

Have fun, and Viel Glück!
