Always worth a stop on the way down to Cornwall, a bonus that it is also enjoyed by Jellicoe minor too - she really enjoyed the section on the Wrens as her great grandmother was one

The workshop picture is the beginning of their restoration of a Barracuda but more accurately a reconstruction using as many original bits as they can find!

Folded wings are a bit of a bummer when it comes to photos so the pictures I took of the Avenger and Hellcat don't really show much so not included.

Yes thanks for sharing. To bad there were no Swordfish! If you liked that display, try the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola.

It was very quiet as a Wednesday afternoon before most of the schools broke up so plenty of time to view exhibits and have a go at trying to shoot down an Me110 with a machine gun on a Swordfish (v. Popular with Jellicoe minor)

There was a Swordfish there but not brilliantly placed to take photos of as in a sort of raised flying position, part of their exhibit focusing on Esmonde and the Channel Dash

There is also a nice section on British Pacific fleet carrier experiences and a whole section of artwork done by BPF veterans. They also have turned one hanger into a mock up of the flight deck of the Ark Royal circa 1978 with screens at each end showing a Buccaneer landing and then at the front with the Phantom a Phantom take off. As a result quite low lit so not brilliant exposure on the photos of the Vampire, Attacker, Vixen, Scimitar and Sea Hawk. after that you go on a a tour of the island and key areas all as would have been in 78.

Ahhh, ok, I thought it odd there was "no" Swordfish... A UK Naval Air museum without a Swordfish is like toast without butter, just not right!
