It's still the old Wargamer..just they changed it. So not moved or deleted just went through a transformation..which going by feedback not for the better..well not at the moment anyway. Really now Pocket Tactics are involved aswell they should be improving the forum not making it worse. The job to turn it around was going to be difficult anyway. At the moment I think Wargamer should just close it down and concentrate on the actual website..give it a few months then open a new revamped forum that had been planned with careful consideration and been designed after listening to what the community wanted to see in it.
You could go over to the other major Wargamers forum, which funny enough seemed to contribute to the death of the old Wargamer as a mass exodus happened as people made their way over there to never return. A lot who used to post here also seemed to disappear when really they too followed the migration:) Luckily this is a games company forum so the only thing that could damage it so much there was no coming back would be bankruptcy. I would say though at the moment that forum is closer to how old Wargamer iscompared to other Wargame forums out there.

Even though they simply changed/moved, I miss the old Wargamer forum and site. It seems as if the focus has changed ever so slightly and it isn't quite as grognardish (forgive me for making up a word) as it used to be. Alot of the voices that i went there to hear seem to have left as well. I almost never visit the forums, but, I still go to read the reviews and articles if they pertain to anything that interests me. Armchair General stopped publishing as well, wow, I am getting old. "Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio..."

I absolutely love your site Jason, keep up the great work. I really enjoy the in depth reviews of both the PC games you have done and the board games. Outstanding stuff.
Hello everyone! My name is Joe, I'm the new Editor-in-Chief over at Wargamer (and Pocket Tactics). Just thought I'd drop by to say 'hello' and also to try and address any concerns you may have.
I'm not sure what was done with the old Wargamer forums. I can see if there's still an archive somewhere but I'm doubtful.
We want to make the forums a better place to hang-out, but we can only do that with your help! If you have specific feature requests, come let me know :) As for content, I do plan to do more table-top stuff whilst also making sure as much digital content is covered as well. We've got some new writers (and returning ones), so hopefully they'll be something for everyone.
If you're happy with your new community homes though, then that's fine too - as long as you drop by now and then to read what we're posting :)
And yes - giveaways are a great way to attract people back to the forums, but I also want to find ways to reward the people who've stuck with us too!

Im glad your here. Please find out where it is and restore it. There were too many great topics to be lost. Why would your company exclude or delete it?
How long ago was this? I don't actually know where that form points to, but you can always email me directly on:
joer [at] wargamer [dot] com
It was last weekend. I tried to log in using my username (Greybriar) and password from the old Wargamer forums. When I couldn't get logged in, I clicked on the "Forgotten Password" button and got an automated response. When I did what I was advised to do, it didn't work and I got an error message...something about the passwords being archived, I think--a full description was in the "Contact Us" email I sent to whomever. Attempting to log on again did no good and now I'm getting the message: "You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to solve the CAPTCHA below."
I'm tired of jumping through hoops and if whoever the "Contact Us" button directs to is too busy to respond to user inquiries, I really don't have any desire to belong to such a forum anyway.

I too had the same issue about 4 years ago and then once a year every year since
So I will check where 'Contact Us' emails go to - it certainly isn't me, so that's probably a legacy thing we have to switch over from the last EIC.
GreyBriar: I've sent you an email to your gmail account. Your password has been reset, so hopefully you can login in now without issue.
If anyone else who hasn't logged in since the new forums were put in place wants to, please email me directly before you try. I'll reset your passwords as well just to be sure.

I thought Matrixgames owned Wargamer.com and its content. Has that changed?
Matrix Games shares "common ownership" with Wargamer Ltd., which runs Wargamer & Pocket Tactics. They don't own the content as far as I know but my Content Rights/Ownership legal knowledge is a little rusty. Wargamer Ltd. should own the content though.

Before my time I'm afraid - it may have been a consequence of the migration. I'll see what I can find out.

many of those voices are still in the forums over at GrogHeads, and cue Jason's inevitable rant...
Was that "Old Wargamer" site mostly about tabletop (miniature and board) gaming or was it mostly Old Wargamers gaming in the New medium (computer)?
Gary, it's the original WGer forums where most of us met you, before the S&M guys merged Pocket Tactics and The Wargamer and rebooted the entire site with a new set of forums. They left the old ones up for a while at old.wargamer.com but recently shut it down. 15+ years of game discussion archives nuked.
