One DLC is missing from Alea Jacta Est, but apart from that, it's perfect

Same here, a few hundred dollars at release for sure. Accept for Thirty Years War, which was glad I missed.

I'd already had Pride of Nations + its DLCs, Prussia, and Revolution, but I still think it was worth getting--for Alea Jacta, Civil War, and the whole tier 3

Ok... I'll get it. I've got almost all of the games, but I was looking for the DLCs and I've got friends who will be delighted to receive as a present CWII, TEAW or Alea Jacta Est

Thanks. I didn't have any of the games in the bundle. So I've bought the lot.

Since someone mentioned in the other Ageod thread about Alea Jacta Est being one of the more simple games, it's nice to pick up and attempt to finally learn these games. So I crossed the river and I went for tier 3, even though I already had a couple of the games.

if you do them in the order they were made, imo you learn the system and enjoy the later ones more, not that it makes much difference either, just it's how i'm going to do it, as i've read it somewhere else, and there's a progression like any series, you see them develop, enjoy

I've already got them all but there are some real gems in tier 2. Rise of Prussia is very elegant and captures the warfare of the era. Revolution under Siege is probably the most bruising game in the AGE catalogue.

I agree, the AJE set is a good purchase.

Bruising? Why?

Partly the division/army building routine is complex. Even more than ACW2 it is a challenge as you are both building new units and losing your at start forces. But also it doesn't flinch from the inhumanity of both sides. So you do requisition, eliminate those less enthusiastic etc. It's a great game but quite demanding. Remember playing a superb PBEM that left us all exhausted

just give them another go if you still have them, play them in release order, then by the time you get past a few, you will be a master on the later ones and enjoy them for what they are, good games

think this is important. In some game series you can usually use the mindset that the most recent is the best. With AGEOD some of the early games are complete gems - in this bundle AJE and Rise of Prussia both use the original variant of their game engine but both give excellent game play.

AJE is deceptively simple - not many units to move, not that many provinces etc - so you are not struggling too much with the scale of the game. But most of the scenarios are a real challenge and as they are (deliberately) unbalanced (ie there is no attempt to mitigate historical advantages that one side or the other had) its interesting to try them both from the 'easy' and 'harder' factions.

I find it disappointing that one can not get such deals here.

I do not own CW2 and RUS, which are included in tier 2, still cheaper than any sale on steam, the thing that I will get them but I will not play them since I am not interested much in the setting, but maybe one day.

once in your collection you can play at any later date, this is what i do, as most won't be used now, just saved for later, same as most game if i was honest, either don't have the time, or on something else, so if a bargain comes out i want, i just add it to the collection of play later games, which is rather a large list atm, and getting longer each year
