At this time we wished to information you we have recommended LCDR R. Stout for the Navy Cross while commanding the USN DD Hull. While leading his three ship task force on a bombardment mission in support of the forces at Wake Island, after completing the bombard on his own initiative he turned the task force around in the dead of night to engage an amphibious taskforce inbound. His forces continued the action until all of his ships had expended all shells and torpedoes. His actions have done a great credit to himself, his crew, the navy and the country.

After the naval interception the Japanese conducted an Amphibious Assault at Wake Island with the remaining forces with the 83rd Nav Gd. The landing was contested with heavy casualties suffered on by the Japanese. The long term prospects for Wake did shift towards the Japanese forces as another six hundred troops are ashore but all their forces are highly fatigued, disrupted and disabled. Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 1115 troops, 11 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 104
Defending force 2476 troops, 28 guns, 20 vehicles, Assault Value = 48

The Bad

The KB or Part of it, detection level is low is back in play. It smashed a small xAP force bring a base force to Efate. I am hoping it tries to port strike Brisbane as there are 100 US Fighters and two AA ACU units defending.

Both Efate and Tanna are showing Naval Guard units prepping for their bases. Not certain I can slip anything to reinforce the Oz Commando company's on each island.

The Mess

We both have supply issues with the roads, three additional have moved into Pegu so I expect another attack as soon has he feels his units have recovered. I only have one British AT Reg that will reach the front in seven days but that will be the last unit that is feed into the meat grinder. The forts are level two and climbing, they are level 3 and climbing at Rangoon.

Mandalay held for the 1st attack and with my bombers hitting his units as weather permits I hope to hold until an Aus Infantry Bde arrives in 15 to 20 days.

There are 125 1942 Indian Infantry Squads in the pool and stockpiling, once they hit around 200 I will begin upgrading all of the forces in the field. If I get lucky I might be able to upgrade the forces in Burma and Singapore. I don't want to split the divisions in Burma and Singapore as they are on the front lines.

The Good

The airfield at Noumea is reported to have hit level 3 so we are trying to shut it down and prevent it from expanding. I am working on getting the airfield at Suva ready to support the B-17s but for now its up to the Navy. If the KB is fixed west of New Caledonia then the forces east will move in.

The supply hits and hitting those cargo ships may have more effect than the airfield hits. Hope you can keep it up. If he built the AF to 3 in a short period of time he has lots of engineers ... but probably didn't build much in forts so your bombardments will have good effect.

I agree on the cargo ships and supply as this is the second time I have hit the base I am hoping to make it too hot for him to risk another TK much less an AO with subs all over the area. The "plan" is to deny him the chance to build forts ---- using my PBY's/Subs to scout for the KB while using hit and run with the surface forces. I have a slow BB task force + the Carrier's in the area but I am only going to commit them if the KB is spotted far away.

Quite an over-kill, if you ask me........Hope your "heavies" didn't use up all their ammo. It's often difficult to replenish.

Keep up the good work!

I was hoping he might have a more ships but as long as I get away without any losses all should be well. I have AKE's deployed at Pago Pago so if I make it there I can reload the ammo but the big ships are at 7/10 so I have at least one more battle in them if needed.

Clear as Mud

So the Carriers will make for Fiji and the BB's that just fought will fall back towards the east. Reinforcements and supply are in route to Fiji but SigInt has noted several new units preparing for Suva. Not sure if this is feint or the real deal. If he does not land in the next 30 days with all of the reinforcements and supply in route I don't see how he can take it without a six month long siege.

And in the Air

Last turn went well, some of the turns have not but over all I think I am doing ok. The British are out of reserve airframes. But There is a Chinese ACU and a Canadian ACU almost ready for air combat in Burma. There is an American ACU that could also be added if needed but its airframes will need to be upgraded from P-36's.

In the middle of March a bunch of P-40E's will return to the pool as the Fighter ACU's in Australia disband.

Some of his CV are hitting Wake....

For the second day my CV forces at New Caledonia don't strike due to heavy cloud cover. But I will stick around, while shifting positions to try one more time. At least this time there is a surface bombardment and B-17 strike that will go in. I think the KB is in route but I should have one more day to try.....

Now What????

The US Carriers will run at full speed south of Raoul Island. Raoul Island will go to a level 1 airfield this turn and next turn 50 P-39's will cover the CV fleet and a replenishment task force.

The Oz/Kiwi Force will fall back to Auckland.

The US BB and Hermes CLV Forces will make to Vaitupe/Funafui to cover the landing for combat forces to hold the islands.

We pray to the dice gods.

Pray he is low on fuel and can't do a flank speed sprint in either direction. He finds himself in a target rich environment.

If the numbers of aircraft reported on the KB are to be believed, you have superiority in both fighters and bombers. Furthermore, you can make his strikes split up among your many TFs. Do you have any reason to believe that the full KB is present? Or any reason to believe some CVs are not able to be with it?

On 2nd thought it looks like he has 3 CVs here and you said some were hitting Wake so he split the KB. Looking at your strike package and his it seems u have 4 CVs+. This might be a good chance to take on half the KB a long way from home while you are closer to your bases. I know you have some Buffalos and Vindicators but numbers might overwhelm him. He also expended 54 torpedos with his earlier strike. It appears he might be light of his best weapon.

Well nothing happened this turn, he hit the transport force falling back from New Caledonia. I went south and east trying to draw him in near my replenishment task force and to my fighter base at Raoul Island. It did not work but it was worth the long shot.....

We will replenish at Raoul and see how things shake out. I expect to fall back to Pearl and refit but we will see. Some of his carriers strike Wake again.

I thought (for a long time before I sent in last turn) about trying to engage his CV fleet as I think the odds favor me but I suspect he has some land bases air that can relocate to Luganville as it is a level 2 airfield.
