Attacks. Went well on two, and not so well on the last. You need to choose the unit to lose in Chung-king (it still stands).

Note, I converted the shattered in Antwerp to a retreat and therefore you lost all three units.

Oh, also, I lose the engineer again. I can only get one attack with him before I have to rebuild him. I am frustrated!!! time to sleep on this.
This seems pretty normal for engineers, it seems to me.

Sep-Oct 1940. Allied #10. RN. North Sea.

The RN once again attempts to initiate a naval combat in the North Sea.

Will either or both the Luftwaffe fighters fly and, if so, to which sea box?

FYI: The RN declined the opportunity to attempt to initiate a naval combat in either Cape St. Vincent or the West Med. Since the allies moved no additional naval or air moves to those two areas the axis can't, so no naval combat in either area this impulse.

No GE air response. The S-H is acting as good bait all on it's own.

I swallowed it hook, line and sinker; now let's see if we can go sink that pesky German ship who dares to challenge the Royal Navy.

Contact!

The RN declines a naval air battle, defaults to a surface battle and uses 4 of its 5 surprise points to increase damage to one destroyed. Now, let's see how accurate the RN gunners are.

Well, at least the RN managed to finally sink the bait! That's some consolation, I guess?

Sep-Oct 1940. Allied #10. RAF Strategic Bombing.

Not to be outdone by the RN, their sister branch, the RAF conducts two strategic bombing raids that hit home against both German and Italy who both lose 1 PP.

Italy a combined, JP and GE land actions

Italy moved a sub to the North Atlantic. Initiated and rolled a 1, thought my luck was turning. Then the allies roll a 2 and end up with two surprise points. Net was the Italian sub was aborted (I used the 2 CW sp to move the result against the sub up from ne to A).

I am initiating in the W. Med. Do you wish to fly out the NAV and fighter in Gibraltar?

I will not be initiating in CSV.

Spitfire to the 0-box.

It's my bedtime, so here are my instructions.

1. Allies will avoid the combat if they can.

2. The Spitfire will fight to the bitter end to protect the allied CPs in the West Med. That is, until the status of all axis bombers / NAVs are resolved or until its aborted or shot down. In air to air, the axis bombers are its target.

3. The allied navies will stay in the Western Med to the bitter end, regardless of what happens to the allied CPs.

SO40 i11 W. Med Naval combat rnd 1
Both find axis 2, allies 3 -> net zero surprise points. Air to Sea combat.
Axis only fly the two NAVs as bombers. Flying the fighter as a bomber would have resulted in -1/6 AA fire, so I decided against it. Results was a damage and abort to the CW CA in the 4-box.

Axis found again in round 2.
used 4 sp to shift allied AA down. Did not matter much with rolls of 18 and 16.
shot down lead axis fighter (axis choice on -2/18) and aborted GE nav on -2/16
Allies did manage to clear a clear a bomber and shoot down the Spitfire in the end.

The bomber used 6 sp to shift up to a X 3A results. First applied to CW CP (by axis), first A on CW CA with no AA (my decision for the allies), 2 A on French CA (by axis - highest damage control, so most likely to abort), and 3 A on a CA (not much difference between options for the Allies).

Rnd 3 was harder for me to run for you, but I did my best. Based on your instructions, I got the impression you want to keep some presence in the zone, so I made decision to optimize keeping somebody in the zone (it worked).

Searches, both rolled 3, resulting in a naval air and 3 sp for the axis.
both planes (NAV and fighter with Nav factor) fly has bombers (2 AA vs planes is ne)
Axis apply first D vs CA which it saves, so it is aborted.

Here is my logic for the second D on the CP. If I applied the D on the battleship and it is damaged it will leave the zone at the end of the turn and if it saves it is aborted. In both cases it is gone and the last A will abort the CP, leaving the zone vacant. Applying the D on the CP gives the BB a chance to save the A and stay in the zone, which it did. Hope this fits with your intent.

I have been extremely lucky in searches in this zone this impulse. Found again with a 2-10 split.
The Resolution made both damage control rolls versus an X and a D. The zone is cleared. The FR CA will go abort towards Equatorial Africa if possible (edited in, they could only make it to Dakar in Sengal - the Italians did not intercept in CSV) and the CW units to Gibraltar.

I overran Brest. Three ships sunk, one must rebase. I am not sure of where to rebase the Bretagne. If it goes to Rouen, you don't have any penalties for an on map BB outside of Metropolitan France. But it is in danger of capture again. I'll wait till the morning for you to have chance to weigh in.

Send the surviving French BB to Rouen. If it gets overrun again, survives and has to rebase then scuttle it. I believe "backspace" will allow you to destroy it.

You can't destroy the French BB, if it has a port to rebase to. If you can do so, than that's a bug...
