Thought I would delve into the Editor. My problem is adding units to an existing scenerio. Question do I have to start a whole new scenerio, or is it possible to add units ?

I am placing Infantry Divisions on a map "The scenerio is Better Prepared" I am finding the Divisions some times break down to Regiments, sometimes they dont, I have left 3 slots open in the Editor, doesnt seem to make any difference. Also find having "broken down my Division", none of the "Stock units", those already in place will not break down to Regiments.

When I go to check the scenerio it mentions something about no information to sub units, or along those lines.

Sorry this is not a very clear explanation, thanks for reading, any advice will be gratefully accepted.

The first step is to take an existing scenario, rename it and save. That will prevent you modifying a stock scenario.

When adding new units the easiest approach is to copy and paste an existing unit and then rename it in the Units tab (off map editing). When you go back to the map the new unit will be in the same hex as the unit you originally copied. You can then move it to where you want.

If you want a broken down unit it is easiest to create a whole unit and then break it down rather than the opposite way. Don't worry about leaving vacant slots the game will fill into open slots in the data (unless you want them grouped together for visibility in the data). For broken down units you can see related units by clicking on ATTACHED UNITS at the bottom left hand colum in the Units tab - it should change to PARENT UNIT:

Thanks for replying. I did rename the "Be Prepared Scenerio" at the very start I have also done all the steps you have suggested. First I was using the templates in the order of battle. Then switched to Copying and pasting units and renaming them. Sometimes they could be broken down other times not so. I also checked the Attached units. I know it mentions in the Manual about leaving slots open, like you say it doesn't make any difference. Even when the units could be broken down,I really just want the ability when playing the scenerio to break the units down, rather than start "Broken down" none of the other units could be.....If you see what I mean.

I checked the Scenerio Editor and the message would come up next to the unit. Can't have subunit info.

At the very start of this process I changed alot of the hex's to Axis and repositioned the units and then saved under my new scenerio title, would this make any difference? I have tried over and over and so far without success. Probably I should leave well alone and just play the game...Before my wife divorces me, the trouble is I start something and find it difficult to let go.........Thanks again.

The units that can be broken down in the game are hardcoded. It is Axis Divisions and Soviet Corps only if I remember correctly.

Thank's for your help. Still having no luck. Keep getting the message after I have placd an Axis Division on map "Unit cannot be broken down". That happens most of the time, oddly all the other units are highlighted in blue and these cannot be broken down. Again when I check the Scenerio the message next to the page read out mentions "Can't have Subunit info". Beginning to think I'm doing something wrong or maybe it's hardcoded.

Imust admit this has me puzled, other folk must have either made up scenerios, or perhaps added units to simply addd units to existing scenerios, obviously renaming them first. I will let you know if I have any luck. Again thanks for your time.

Hi again. Been thinking about a scenario. Thinking about a German/Soviet Invasion of Poland in June 1941. Sort of alternate history. Wondering if it would be possible to set the Poles to Neutral and have the Axis/Soviets invade from West and East. Similar to the invasion of Poland in 1939. Unfortunely I know the start date cannot be modded before June 22nd 1941. I have a sneaking feeling it wont be possible but thought I would ask anyway.

I'm pretty sure you cannot have a third side. You would have to have to combine the Axis and Soviets into a single faction. I think that could work but it would be a lot of work.

I think you are right, also could just lead to a lot of work, will give it more serious thought. Did watch a few "youtube videos" on the Invasion of Poland last night. Couldn't fault the Poles for sheer courage but didn't stand a chance against Germany and then Russia. Still maybe something to do in winter. Thanks for your help.
