First try these things, remove all 'holder.txt' files from the folders within WAW, delete the steel.prfs file(another will be made when you restart, but you'll need to reset prefs), make sure any anti-virus programs are off. You may also, depending on amount of RAM, want to shut down any other programs running except for Explorer, and Systray. Also, you might want to check on how old your power supply is, and/or how hot the computer is getting, could be your fan is gone/going, and it's getting hot, or power supply going, but most often the first mentioned items cure a problem! Oh, if you haven't already, make a shortcut to start the game from the mech.exe found in the main WAW folder. Hope this helps?!
