Right now I'm midway through 'K' for Germany. Here are the issues I've noted so far:
LD0005 - the source image of Helge Auleb is debated, according to the Axishistory forums.
LD0025 - Heinrich Clossner should be Erich-Heinrich Clößner (or Erich-Heinrich Cloessner, forgoing on special characters)
LD0027 - Paul Deichmann has the wrong image (and I haven't the foggiest who is shown there, he's not even close)
LD0029 - Karl Demelhuber is misnamed Karl-Maria Demelhuber (Maria was his second name, rather than Karl-Maria being his first)
LD0031 - Sepp Dietrich should be Josef Dietrich (Sepp was his nickname)
LD0034 - Karl Eglseer has the wrong image (depicting Thomas von Wickede)
LD0037 - As this is a Luftwaffe slot I presume this should be Sigismund von Falkenstein rather than Hans Freiherr von Falkenstein. The latter was Generalmajor, then Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht from 1943. If indeed Sigismund is intended here, wrong image.
LD0039 - Hans Felber rather than Hans-Gustav
LD0043 - Otto-Wilhelm Förster has the wrong photo (either woefully out-of-date or just plain wrong), and his first name is Otto-Wilhelm rather than Otto
LD0053 - Should be Fritz-Hubert Graeser, not Fritz
LD0072 - Should be Ernst-Eberhart Hell, not Ernst, it seems
LD0104 - Friedrich Köchling (or Koechling, forgoing on special characters), not Kochling

That's it so far. If I come across any other glitches I'll add them to the list.

Hmm, it looks like Sepp was more than his nickname, he was probably more commonly known as Sepp than as Josef.
Thanks for your input.

I can't add most double first names due to running into a text length limit.

025 - last name fixed
027 - fixed
029 - fixed
031 - not changed
034 - no image to fix
039 - conflicting sources so not changed
043 - fixed

And 037? :)

As to 034, if you need source imagery of Eglseer you'll find him either here or here.

37 renamed to Sigismund
I'm no gfx modder (just the data guy as in CORE) so if you want to provide a modded image for use in WitE series please feel free to do so.

Well, if you don't mind a lighter Sepia shade and less blurring than normal within WitE:
Auleb
Eglseer
Sigismund von Falkenstein

And while we're at it:
Vincenz Müller
Ludwig Müller

On the 'plus' side all of them aren't the sharpest of images, due to poor source image quality - with Vincenz Müller even bordering on the outright horrendous... So they're a bit blurry after all. Unfortunately there isn't a Vanilla Photoshop template in the fileset, otherwise I could have given you 'Vanilla style'.

Next batch - I've advanced until 0150.

LD0132 - Friedrich-Wilhelm Müller, not Friedrich
LD1033 - Vincenz Müller uses a post-war political photo, rather than a Wehrmacht era one - see the post above for a correct image
LD0134 - Ludwig Müller has the wrong image - see the post above for a correct image
LD0137 - Eduard Neumann. I'm a bit surprised to see him in the roster, as he never made it to Generalmajor, just Oberst (Colonel). Not to mention the fact that he did not see action in Russia. Is he intended to be in, and for what period? Alternates with proper rank and Eastern Front posting are available (like Martin Fiebig). For reference, see http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Personenregister/Dienstgrade/GMdL-R.htm and http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Personenregister/Dienstgrade/GdLw-R.htm.
LD0138 - Karl Nordmann. Similarly, he did not rise to Generalmajor rank, just Oberst, though he did see action on the Eastern Front.
LD0144 - Kurt Pflugbeil. He's referenced both as Curt and Kurt, respectively. Most German sites seem to go with Curt, it seems. Moreover, so does the Major (Matthias, i.e. Bestmajor on the PI forums, is my most important source for German general material - he's German by the way).
LD0145 - should be Artur Phleps, not Phelps.

That's it so far...

can't fix 132 due to length issues - maybe Dominic may permit some more characters in a future version
133/134 - could be fixed with images from WitW
137/138 are removed in WitW for that reason - will have to check for scenario use
144 - won't fix due to conflicting information unless there an official source providing C instead of K
145 will be fixed

All future changes including those you mention in post #8 will be delayed for 1.09.02 as we have to finish testing of 1.09.01.

I can confirm that 133/134 are fixed within WitW. 144 is no biggie one way or the other - both seem to fit the bill.

Rounded up Germany (and Slovakia for that matter):

LD0156 - Should be Rudolf von Roman (i.e. including the preposition)
LD0166 - Gerhard Schöpfel, so Schoepfel when forgoing on special characters. He never made it past major, and I doubt he's actively used.
LD0183 - Hans-Jürgen Stumpff, so I would have expected 'Juergen' rather than 'Jurgen' if the 'ü' is written as 'ue' in-game
LD0189 - Should officially be Friedrich Volckamer Von Kirchensittenbach (though possibly/probably too long)
LD0191 - Hans-Jürgen von Arnim, so again I would opt for Hans-Juergen here
LD0192 - Walther von Axthelm, not Walter
LD0197 - Friedrich-Wilhelm von Chappuis rather than Friedrich
LD0205 - Ernst-Anton von Krosigk rather than Ernst
LD0210 - Kurt-Jürgen von Lützow, so again I would opt for Kurt-Juergen here
LD0215 - Most sources are using Karl Pfeffer-Wildenbruch without the 'von'... Having said that, the Bundesarchiv has a photo of him labeled with preposition. But the ones forgoing on the preposition include pretty reliable sites, like Lexicon der Wehrmacht and Axishistory. Based on this thread on the latter I would opt for scrapping the preposition.
LD0239 - Gustav-Adolf von Zangen, not Gustav
LD0274 - Anton-Reichard von Mauchenheim genannt Bechtolsheim is missing an image, and spelling of the name is off in several places (both first name and last name). I do realize it's a bit of a mouthful - whether German naming convention would imply the 'genannt Bechtolsheim' can be considered as being optional I don't know. Though based on Dutch naming convention I doubt it. But with you being German that would be quickly settled, methinks. WitW uses this slot for Alfred Wunnenberg, so copying that one to WitE won't do in this case. If you don't mind the differences in style you can use this one:

LD0279 - Eduard von Saß never made it to General, but I highly doubt he's being actively used
LD0407 - it's Hans Boeckh-Behrens without the 'von'

LD0752 - Anton Pulanich seems to have the wrong photo, showing a more modern shot of Catlos instead. WitW has the right one.

For the record, even though this might be bleeding obvious: most spelling errors in WitE seem to be present in WitW as well (1.01.37 Beta).

Any ETA ballpark figure on patch 1.09.01? That way I can decide whether it's worth it to make a new 1.09.0 build for just the German generals, of wait for 1.09.01 and do it in one go.

Most of the first name changes are not possible because of the character limit (I prefer Hans-Jurgen over Hans-Juerge).
Will look into the others.

Don't know how long it takes for next version to arrive.

My 2 cents is that I also prefer substituting special characters like ä, ö and ü with a, o and u. Reason is that one gets bit funny combos transliterating them as ae, oe or ue.

E.g. Hämäläinen as Haemaelaeinen. Hamalainen is lot better.

Whatever decision is fine with me - as long as it's consistent. Though I'd welcome the use of special characters over regular ones - but that's probably not an option (non-western character sets won't support it, AFAIK). And I agree 'Jurgen' sure beats 'Juerge' any day of the week if string limitations are an issue.

Here are the Finns:
LD0502 - Hägglund, not Hagglund (reported just in case)
LD0507 - Mäkinen rather than Makinen (likewise)
LD0509 - Armas-Eino Martola seems more appropriate (that's what he's referred to on all Finnish sites I come across)
LD0511 - Öhquist rather than Ohquist (again just to be sure)
LD0512 - Woldemar Oinonen rather than Voldemar
