Additional information. 24 apr 2003

Works fine v2.20
Problem after upgrade to v2.30

On both my machine running win 2000.

--------original------------------------
UV installed with patches to 2.30.
Run once to set to 1024x760, exit and restart.

Gets stuck in a Squadron Box after I transfer one squadron to another base.

Steps:
1. Select Decision Scenario
2. R-Click on Rockhampton airfield
3. Select a B-17 Sqdrn
4. Transfer to Cookstown

Try doing anything else like transfering the next squadron or exiting from the Squadron UI.

I don't get anywhere.

I've played this before, but may not have been up to v2.30. I had no problems.

I'm running under Windows 2000, completely up to date. Previous machine was the same.

Any suggestions?

Thank you, Bruce

You are stuck between bases at that point in time. Click on one of the airgroups displayed (icon) at the bottom bar to get your focus brought back to the base you WERE at. Your focus shifted with the air unit that you just transfered to the new base so you are stuck in the transfer until you select a different air unit. The Back button doesn't work because you are no longer there so there is nothing to go back to. This only happens with transfer orders where the next/prev/back buttons no longer attach to the base the unit WAS at.

This has been in every version, it is not something new to 2.30.

Mr. Frag -

Thank you for the response, but that is not the problem. To be extra certain that it was not pilot error I redid the test.

Then went back and reinstalled and tested at v2.00, 2.10, 2.11, 2.20, and 2.30.

Only fails on v2.30.

Works fine on others.

Hi

I'll see if any of the Beta testers are running with 2000 and have them follow your instructions....

Cheers
Dan

I *am* running windows 2000 and have the exact same problem. Thats why I posted what I thought the fix was ... personal note: the posted solution works for me, and I did have the problem with prior versions.

There is also another quirk that may be involved with this, if you have a mouse with a scroll bar, it can pop the UI around backing it out a window but leaving the game thinking that it is STILL in the window so the buttons shown don't work. Use the ESC key to get out of it ...

OK thanks Mr.Frag....I'll include the info given here by you and Brucekg and pass them on. BTW is there another thread that deals with this issue?

I seem to remember one back in the 2.20 days about the mouse wheel stuff, but it was a ways back.

I am running the latest patch levels of Windows 2k, every fix and addon installed except .NET. At the point we differ, what happens if you hit ESC key instead of clicking the (o) exit button?

Hi,
I'm running the game under win 2000 and had a similar problem.
Sometimes when transfering a squadron you might get the message that the squadron leader has been killed.
Now on the screen of the transferred squadron, when looking at the leader stats, these show just "?" and you cannot exit the screen anymore. Neither button you hit on the UI-screen works anymore.

What you CAN do is click on the "next turn" button and the hit "no".

Cheers,
Christof

Christof -

The killed message is exactly what happens. I haven't tried your suggestion as I decided to revert the machine to XP and see what happens.

I will try your workaround next week on anothe machine that has 2000.

Thank you, Bruce

Problem is on XP also.

After workaround ( next turn / No ) went back to same airfield. "Allied Air Units at Rockingham" UI box appears and I can do nothing again. Not even end orders.

HELP....

I think the killed Maj. message on the transfer is a potential pointer to the bug.

Had I think something similar, where I try to transfer a squadron and then nothing works, I just save the game, and then everything is fine again
