Time for me to put this one out for feedback, I've been looking at it for too long. Victory Condition Scoring has not been changed from default value, so input on that also would be welcomed:

Crimea River-2016

The winter of 2015 was a brutal one for the people of Crimea. Due to the collapse in oil prices and continued economic sanctions by the West, the Russian Federation economy was in shambles. Food and fuel shortages in Crimea were widespread, and the Unemployment Rate was over 40%. It became apparent to many in Crimea that re-joining the Russian Federation was not the utopia they dreamed of (and voted for).

In January 2016 dissatisfaction turned to uprising. The first Crimean rebellion started in the city of Kerch. Spetnaz Special Forces units brutally put down the uprising, killing approximately 150 unarmed protesters. Mass protests quickly spread to other parts of Crimea and ended in the same way; with the Speznatz. Vocal leaders of the opposition simply disappeared.

Western Powers and NATO were undecided on what action to take. The Crimean people had "made their own bed" hadn't they? But the brutality and killing were difficult to stomach. The United Nations could not get any type of Referendum through the Security Council due to the veto power of Russia and China. A purely diplomatic solution seemed unlikely, and there was little international support for military action.

Then, in early February 2016, a CNN News camera crew secretly took footage of troops with no insignia placing bodies in a mass grave at a desolate area outside of the City of Simferopol. It was determined that the mass grave contained the bodies of Crimean dissident leaders, along with their families. When the footage aired on the CNN broadcast network, the political and military situation changed dramatically.

NATO is going to take action. The United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Greece, and (to a limited extent) Turkey are planning a large strike on Russian military assets in Crimea. It was hoped that a large enough strike by so many NATO Member Nations would send a clear message to Russia that the continued annexation of Crimea was no longer in their best interest.

Two U.S Carrier Strike Groups have combined into a powerful Carrier Battle Group designated Task Force 60, under command of the US 6th Fleet. The multi-national Standing NATO Maritime Force Group 2 (SNMFG2) has been reinforced and will act as a screening group for TF 60. Three NATO front-line submarines are on patrol in the Med, and NATO Airbases have been reinforced with front-line fighters, bombers, and ASW patrol aircraft.

Russia has not been caught flat-footed, and a formidable Russian force is squared off against NATO. Russia had been re-establishing it's 5th Med Squadron and it has now left it's base in Tartus, Syria and joined with the Battle Cruiser Admiral Nakhimov and carrier Admiral Kunetsov which recently passed through the Suez Canal into the Eastern Med. Major units of the Baltic Fleet have left Sevastopol with it's Flagship Slava-class cruiser Moskva. Several Russian diesel electric and nuclear attack submarines are thougth to be operating in the Eastern Med. Russian airfields in and around Crimea have been reinforced with fighters and bombers, and Russian land-based air defense systems have also been upgraded.

The NATO codename has been generated: OPERATION BALTIC JUSTICE, and the authorization has been given to proceed.

Just wondering if anyone ever played this. I see about 40 downloads but no comments. If it's a dud, I'll just chalk it up to bad scenario design and move on to something else

I'll give it a go.

Firstly, love the name. 100 points for that alone

Secondly, the briefing is very good.

After playing for about an hour, I find myself overwhelmed. There's too much going on for me to effectively manage. Time compression is difficult, which compounds the problem (not only is there too much going on for me to manage, but when I implement AI missions etc, I can't watch things pan out at an interesting pace).

Some suggestions:
1. Consider splitting this scenario into several smaller ones. The CVBG transit in isolation would make for a great scenario, as would the air offensive. For me, combining everything into one scenario--while awesome in concept--is too much to manage effectively.

2. Change some airbases and facilities to single units. Is NAS Rota really a possible target for Russia? Likewise with Toulon and Tel Nof. The less active units, the faster the scen will run.

3. Consider merging airfield AA defences into the airfield group. Radars, AAA and SAM around the airfields make it difficult to select the airfield and add to an already high workload on the player.

4. If you want to keep the scen at this theater level scope, consider adding some prepared missions for strategic resources like AWACs, tankers, ELINT, etc. Adding airfield CAPs would also reduce player workload; if the player doesn't want this they can always delete the mission.

Don't be discouraged. It's a cool scenario, and you've obviously put a heap of work into it. I'll keep plugging away at it and see how I go.

Ok Thanks for the input so far.

Scenarios I create always end up being Campaign-style endeavors...taking days to play with the first part being setting up basic boring patrols and recon. Player workload usually becomes manageable after that until the curve balls start flying

I'll look into setting up some basic cap/patrols/recon at the beginning so people don't get frustrated with it early, and merging some things together to make it easier to play.

Since the Russian Kh-101 has a 1600 mile range...the potential target radius is pretty large...including Rota. I'll see about reducing some things to single-unit airfields though

Just started it .
It is truly massive, more detailed AAR to follow in the next few days (weeks maybe).
Now heading to deal with the Russian fleet ( a mix of 50-60 strike planes & roughly 20 fighter to deal with their air arm).
Skirmishing up in the North testing how stealth F-22's and 35's are :)
Syrians still shooting down most of my antiradar missiles.I am yet to spot black sea fleet, will take my time on that.
Planning to thin their air defences and launch a massive 120+ strike plus fighters & ECM support.
Looks great so far.

You will have your hands full.... I believe it is quite Red biased.... For Red Awareness ... He has "auto side ID"... Turned on... That means the as soon as you are detected.... you are Id'ed..... I would turn it off..... Also the starting position for TF 60 seems very unnatural given the political realities in the scenario.....

While it's just.. a game... These are my feelings.... This is a lot of work for sure... and I honor him for it... I play in editor mode... So I just change the thing I feel uncomfortable with..... and that's really cool....

Get a lot of stuff in the air.... Red is extremely aggressive.......

Just downloaded it and will restart. Pity as it took me a while to get all these birds up in the air.
Guess that Mig29's won't visit the Aegean waters tonight.

I started the original scenario yesterday (your first post) and was pleasantly surprised by the early cruise missile attack. Although you cant really take on the Crimean SAM and and fighter defenses before the carriers arrive on scene. So in this build it takes a LONG time before you can effectively start reducing these targets. I tried using the cruise missiles from the heavy bombers, but these just cause the S300 battery's to fire a lot of missiles without achieving much (although making them expend missiles could be a goal by itself). Will have a look at this elusive updated scenario this evening.

wild_willie2, it is entirely possible to get some very good damage on the Red Forces in advance of using the Carrier Air Wings.

The Hint is to make good use of your MALD and MALD-J assets in front of of a large JASSM-ER attack. You have several forms of drone/jammer assets, including the B-52's. Running the Red Forces out of SAM's using this technique can get some good results. Then follow-up with Carrier strikes later.

Yes, it is a LONG scenario, but that was intentional.

Ok, I played the scenario 3 times now and must say that it is a truly excellent scenario.

The Mig-31 fighter sweeps came as a nasty surprise and I had to look into the editor mode of this scenario in order to figure out how my F35 and F22 fighters kept being detected and shot down... (Damn Zaslon M radar)

I just managed to give it a go for a few hours.
I'll try to avoid spoilers at this phase except for the following:
Those SA-21's are truly lethal! They shot down a few Turkish F-16's that were flying over Turkish mainland and were side-lined by Growlers!
Also, pilots manning the Mig-29's must be really handpicked. They could dodge 3-4 Amraams.
I am currently about to gain air supremacy over their Med fleet and gathering forces for a Syria strike.
I am yet to see their missile volley. Suspecting that they are heading to North Turkey but I decided to have airborne every AWACS available on top of every base available combined with anything that carries air to air missiles.
