The 640th will move on to the larger zombie band in the next hex. The Ex-Hangchow defenders have almost all been pushed on hex NE, still in the clear. Allied units will now cut off further retreat so they remain in the clear hex while being reduced. The 2 units of about 1,800 troops that remained are trying to head SE toward Shanghai but will likely be destroyed in place tomorrow. Three days untli we attack at Hankow with about 4,900 AV, surely enough to tip the scales there too.

There is still one unit with almost 4,200 troops there. The division must rest but the flame tanks will keep the heat on tomorrow.

Hironshima/Kure was shut down for offensive air operations and many Imperial death gliders were destroyed on the ground, where they belong. Very few bombers flew against Tokyo although the sweeps did a good job - and this time the Imperial fighters were flying CAP although not in numbers commensurate with recon sightings. I am sure that many of them are kamikaze. Tomorrow the B-29 groups on Formosa will stand down while those on Hokkaido and the B-24 groups there fly the same missions: against Tokyo's air complex. The B-29B mining missions against Osaka/Kyoto succeded, as did the submarine mining mission against Kobe. Tomorrow the B-29B will mine Hiroshima/Kure to try and dampen the resolve of the warships recently sighted there.

Home Islands west. The invasion fleet will move to just east of Kanoya, then land at Kochi the day after. If we are lucky the proximity to Kanoya might provide a day more of uncertainty to the defenders.

China east. The Imperial rear guard was wiped out by air attacks. Our pursuing units can now move on the retreated main body, which will be cut off from further retreat as of tomorrow.

Philippines. The shock attack at Aparri did not take place in spite of our unit crossing the river. That indicates the defending unit has no AV. We attack tomorrow, and also resume the attack at Clark Field. Some units there still have disruptiona above 10%, but resistance is modest.

Home Islands west. The Kochi landings begin tonight and one old BB will bombard in support. A collection of MTB at Kanoya were wiped out by our destroyers. Some are present at Kochi but apparently fewer. Two of the Kochi Amphibious TF, each carrying a division, are sitting just east of Daito Shoto. They will make their way to Kochi directly and one of the RN carrier TF near Tokara Retto will move to provide CAP during transit.

There was one night air attack and a number of daytime air attacks against the USN CV groups sitting just east of the convoys. No damage to our ships and all attacking aircraft were destroyed. Our B-29B groups were given the wrong orders and mined Kobe. Tomorrow they will mine Hiroshima/Kure, the third day in a row they will have flown. Imperial mine sweepers were busy today at Osaka/Kyoto and Kobe; a number of them were destroyed by mines at Osaka/Kyoto! The B-29 gropus on Formosa will strike the port at Hiroshima/Kure tomorrow.

Home Islands east. The air strikes on Tokyo got results but were costly. With heavy CAP and very heavy flak in place it was a hard target, and while sustaining heavy damage - at least 37% - Tokyo is still open to launch offensive strikes. Our B-29-25 and B-24J groups on Hokkaido are knackered and must rest and recover. The P-47 sweeps will continue.

Of course there are other very large air bases that we do not even have recon of, so stiff air attacks are expected.

With no railroad link immediate reinforcement of the defenders is unlikely. Our forces attack tomorrow. The two divisions at sea should land tonight/tomorrow and will be able to continue the attack the day after, keeping up maximum pressure for a fast capture. Base forces are a few days out.

One CVE TF ran into some MTB and took a few small shell hits. They withdrew but will be back on station tonight. There were more night naval strikes this time but none connected. During the day there were heavier raids, and despite the srtike and its escort being shredded two kamikaze hit CVE Lung Point, knocking her out of the battle.
